  • Mrs PG I know you want to move past it but just wanted to say that I'm really sorry that it's gotten ugly again but I think you know yourself that things can't go on as they are and you need to switch the phone off and concentrate on yourself and your girls and Mr PG.

Not sure if you saw my previous suggestion but is there no help from your local social services that could suggest a sitting service, attending a local day centre or just anything that would get her out of the house on her own, or even get her volunteering somewhere.

Also have you thought about trying to get some counselling??? although from everything you're trying to do during the day I have no idea when you would actually fit it in :rotfl:

Fantastic that DD1 managed to sort herself out this morning.

    Good luck with it all

PS - I love filing but have never dealt with accounts so can't help with them but would be able to lessen paperwork mountain once it's ready to be filed.

Hello PG, i normally lurk but was moved to comment re your troubles with relative. It's clear you can't continue with things as they are now, and there are various ways that people have suggested might be possible. It sounds very difficult and I'm sorry it's making you so sad.

A comment made me start wondering, about relative's complaints re never having visitors...has your relative always been like this or has it got worse? I'm sorry if this is a completely out there and off the mark comment, but I am wondering if some of the behaviour might be early signs of dementia? Of course I don't know your relative or other variables affecting the situation, but the thing about never having visitors in particular made me think of a relative I had who had dementia.

The problem of course is that a lot of indicators that something might be happening along those lines could also just be that someone is just a real piece of work! But for ref this is the info from NHS direct re dementia:

"People with dementia can become apathetic or uninterested in their usual activities, and have problems controlling their emotions. They may also find social situations challenging, lose interest in socialising, and aspects of their personality may change.

A person with dementia may lose empathy (understanding and compassion), they may see or hear things that other people do not (hallucinations), or they may make false claims or statements.

As dementia affects a person's mental abilities, they may find planning and organising difficult. Maintaining their independence may also become a problem. A person with dementia will therefore usually need help from friends or relatives, including help with decision making.
Your GP will discuss the possible causes of memory loss with you, including dementia. Other symptoms can include:
    • increasing difficulties with tasks and activities that require concentration and planning
    • depression
    • changes in personality and mood
    • periods of mental confusion
    • difficulty finding the right words"

I am steaming !! I have forgotten to pay and submit our VAT return. We have been fined £500. This is the second time since we lost my dad last year and all this crap began that I have done this. In the previous 16 years I have never once been late with it, its always been lodged and paid on time even when we were in a total pickle. Its all my fault but I just cant concentrate on anything else other than the pressure being brought to bear. I am forgetting everything. I did think about it last week, then got grief and it went out of my head until today. I have notes and reminders and everything everywhere. I just read them and then I forget them. I have never ever been like this in my entire life. Something has got to give.

Even now I am getting hassled, she knows I am working, but I am rushing through as much as I can because I need to go over there and I am making mistakes galore. We dont exactly have £500 sitting in here going begging :mad: So they want an extra £500 and she wants a pint of milk and company .

Sorry for the rant Granny xxxx

Oh honey I so wish I could somehow take some of this burden off you. If you carry on like this your whole world is going to crash.

Can you contact help the aged or someone similar for advice. Although my relation is the same temperament wise, as she lives 160+ miles away it's easier. I did have to cut another relation out of my life completely when I was so poorly last year and his incessant demands just made me want to weep.

I hope something gives for you soon x
