Morning Mrs PG,
I wish that DS had homework! they obviously can do whatever extra they want but nothing set. I am really  because he has spent almost 2 weeks watching tv and playing computer games. No clubs or activities until schools break up next week, and couldn't get him sorted with some voluntary work in charity shops as he is only 14.
But I know exactly what you mean about having to fit life in around HW commitments/deadlines - not the way it should be!
DD has had a great year at uni and come out with a very high 2.1 although it doesn't count towards final mark. She's managed money really well, become more confident, made some good friend and loves the course. I'm really lucky as she is only an hour away! We only did one open day in the summer - the others we did in the Autumn Term. In fact we only did the two that she had a fist choice and backup, then opted out of the others.
Good luck with all the decisions - DD has to do what she feels is right for her, and not everyone wants or is ready for uni straight after school.
xx

I have just been trying to catch up with your news Mrs PG. So sorry that Mr PG had had an accident in the car. I hope he is recovering from it. Stressful that the police are needed too. Nothing is straightforward for some of us.
It must be exciting choosing a university. We loved visiting them with our family, though the overnight ones proved to be rather expensive. Our daughter chose one 6/7 hours from home and DS2 went just 2 hours away in the opposite direction!
The most important thing is that they are doing the right course for them and that they are happy.
I am trying to use MSE more again as it helps me to focus on money saving.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

Lovely to hear from you Pooh. Yes I agree using MSE does help you focus. I am trying to get back on here more often but failing miserably right now !! I haven't had time to catch up on your news sadly, but I hope you are all ok and Mr Pooh is well.
Yes Uni visits are exciting, I have really enjoyed them, except for one talk where it went on and on and on and the lecturer appeared to have no idea why he was even there !! Needless to say that on wont be going on her list ! She has chosen her top two, one is 2 1/2 hours away the other 7 !!:eek: I swear though that she is more interested in her Student Accommodation and how she could decorate her room, I have told her that perhaps she has chosen the wrong course and should be studying interior design instead !xx

Quick update from us. We have some new shiny figures in the signature, the tax bill is heading downwards but very slowly. I can guarantee that this wont be cleared before the next one is due though .....cest la vie !
This morning has been spent preparing our defence for the MBNA Case that has been filed against us. I am pretty confident that it will be stayed, but its been pretty time consuming learning all about it all and reading up on everything. I have received some of the documents requested from them, but I am sure that there are holes in their case and am keeping everything crossed that that is the case. I am preparing myself for another Notice to drop on our doorstep sometime , soon as these accounts were assigned to Aktiv Krapital, now PRA and they seem to be issuing court notices left right and centre. These are both accounts which I am hoping are unenforceable, so if we can win this current one then at least I know what I will be dealing with if another were to land on our doorstep. All a learning curve though, just one I don't really have time for just now !!
Hope you are all enjoying your Sunday so far, its very wet and miserable here. Mr PG has the day off, whoopee , and is currently cooking a very very late breakfast downstairs. Both girls been a bit poorly these last couple of days, so I am hoping for a PJ and movie day with a mammoth ironing session thrown into the mix. If we can get our act together we may possibly manage some ebay listings as well, but I wont be holding my breath on that one ! xxLBM July 2011 - Finally took control Nov 2011 DFD Sometime in the distant future !

Hi Mrs. PG
It is true that Aktiv Krapital now PRA(t) Group are popping up everywhere. I have two in my portfolio!!
What did you do to deserve this though? It's a major pain in the posterior! It is so unusual for a bank like MBNA to shed it's debt and for a new DCA to jump in and start the legals  !!
Being self managed (like you) I do pick and choose how much I pay to whoever and my two PRA(t) debts are on nothing more than tokens. I labelled them 'safe & soft' and concentrated my efforts on what I perceived to be more dangerous and irritating predators. Why are they doing this on yours?
Don't worry my dear.....you are very popular here

Well dear Brogden, I think I actually antagonised them just a tad !! Mine were on tokens as well, but then one day , in one of those moods, I decided that I had just willingly gone along with them and jumped from paying MBNA to AK without giving it a thought and had literally done as they told me. Both of our MBNA debts (actually there are three in total but the other one was assigned elsewhere) had been paid over and over again in interest. So I decide to look to see if we could go down the unenforceable route with them all, so I stopped paying in 2012. Sent a CCA request, they couldn't come up with the goods and its was all quiet on the Western front until last Dec when they became PRA and now they are jumping up and down. This particular one has resulted in a Court Notice as they passed it to their Solicitors, we were away working when we received the LBA, and by the time we returned the date to respond had past and here we are. I think the defence is reasonably solid, time will tell. The second debt is at the stage where they are threatening Court Action again but I have sent them another CCA and they have gone quiet and the third with another Predator I haven't heard a peep from since 2012. Hopefully it will stay that way. The defence is finished and ready to be filed tomorrow , then we sit back and wait I guess.
How lucky are you to also have these particular Predators in your "Portfolio" as well, I think we are truly privileged ! :rotfl:LBM July 2011 - Finally took control Nov 2011 DFD Sometime in the distant future !

We did indeed L, and a lovely day it was as well. I'm actually quite pleased it was raining, it seemed like as good an excuse as any to curl up and refuse to leave the house !! xxLBM July 2011 - Finally took control Nov 2011 DFD Sometime in the distant future !

We are indeed honoured and highly privilaged to be in the PRA(t) club my dear.....at least I have nice company
I understand what you say. I have not gone down the CCA route with any. I think the reason is that in the past, prior to the crisis and LBM(s) I have paid off credit cards, closed the accounts and got new ones so I didn't have any really old ones and I can't remember the date when things changed but none from before then anyway.
The thing is....if they can't produce the CCA, they can't take you to court can they.....or at least it's not worth their bother?Am I over-simplifying things?
That wouldn't be like me at all
!!
You do sound wonderfully upbeat and level headed about this and its difficult to think you wouldn't win so I'm gonna put my money on you.
