  • Oh no :(

Don't be sad on your birthday! Its my birthday tomorrow and I had to go yesterday to choose and put aside a present at a local shop - have now sent hubby (who moaned that he was tired and couldn't be bothered to go) down to pick it up. Suffice to say, I am not expecting a birthday with lots of excitement etc tomorrow

Are you doing anything at all today? Anyone coming over etc??

Btw - I was born on a Wednesday ('s child is full of woe...) and in a dreary November. November is the most miserable month of the year, apart from February. I truly believe that parents who have a child in November, are setting that child up to be a pessimistic, misery for life LOL.... thats me!
Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?
  • I know that feeling and I sympathise. Life sucks, then it changes and it doesn't any longer.

Forty feels like a huge milestone but it isn't really. It's just another number and there can and very probably will be much better numbers up ahead.

    Birthday wishes are free.

Write down 5 wishes for the next 12 months and we will all join you in wishing for them to happen. nb we work small miracles on this forum not big ones.
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

I'm sat here on my own in deep and darkest China so at least you're in a country where you can speak the language and eat the food ;-) Happy birthday xxx

If it's any consolation I spent my 40th on my own - I don't celebrate birthdays or christmas through choice, and I had a wonderful day on my own with a bottle of champagne and no interaction with anyone as my family assumed my friends would be doing something/my friends assumed my family would be doing something.

Did you feel any different when you woke up this morning? I remember lying in my bed on my 40th prodding myself saying "nope nothing's changed......"! It's a date/an age and it means nothing (but have a virtual hug from the other side of the world)

Are there any no-spending ways to lift your mood today? Would you enjoy a walk in the countryside, for example? Or window-shopping? Or a good book and a cup of hot chocolate? You might be broke and alone, but you don't have to be sad as well. :)

I also feel sad because i didnt want to get to 40 without children, my partner died 5 years ago, and i never really moved on..

I felt terrible this morning to be honest, not really the age, more being on my own.
