Change your money in Egypt - much better exchange rate and no commission charges.

If you are flying into Hurghada, you can buy your currency at the airport bank kiosks when you purchase your visa. A much better rate than changing in the UK.

I have never had any issues or security concerns in Egypt and have been travelling there for the past 15 years.

I can't wait for the next trip and to dive the blue hole again.

Interestingly Thomas Cook's and TUI pulled out their German guests a few weeks ago based on German government advice, the Irish government advised their citizens to leave Sharm and the entire Sinai peninsular last Wednesday and all Irish citizens were evacuated the following day. Just what do these governments know that ours doesn't or is it all politics and attempting to curry favour with the Egyptian government, if such a thing exists at present?

No idea on whether what you say is correct but I am in El Gouna now which is just outside Hurghada. There are plenty of German and other Europeans here at the moment. We are all enjoying the sunshine and everything is normal.

The Irish Government hasn't gone as far as evacuating its citizens but they have given the strongest possible warning not to make any non-essential travel to Egypt in general.

Personally I think safety outweighs the risk of a cheap winter sun holiday.

    Here you go again....
The Germans etc pulled out after the problems last summer and did anything happen then in the Red Sea? No.
You are assuming that the other countries intellegence know something which if they did and it was a credible thread, would have been shared with our FCO and they would take action.
That they haven't stopped travel to Sharm suggests the threat was not credible.
And as i said before, it is not a 'cheap' holiday.
