Yes, they are supposed to be posted just like dailies - so on the main board first, then a link to that post in the advents.
    Which comp was it?

I honestly can't remember now, if I come across it when I do my dailies I'll let you know.

  • All those moaning now that changes have been made because it doesn't suit them just sit on it for a month. Glad said she will see how it goes over December and then look again.

Personally, I liked the thread, but then again I can also adapt to the changes. I've been comping on here for around 4 years. Changes happen we all adapt so just try it for a month and then once the Advents are out of the way Glad might revisit the whole debate if it's not working

Quite happy to wait and see on the overall changes, but changing the links in the mags thred from going straight to the entry forms and now going to another thread was not discussed or advertised as far as I am concerned. It also only impacts on the people who used that thread, and is of no benefit to those who want the comps listed on the main board.

If there is a good reason why the mags thread needs to link to the main board instead of straight to the entry forms I would be pleased to hear it! I just don't see how this benefits anyone.

Ok, fair enough about the gripe about it not being out on main board, but as Rugmaker says... Why link to main board??

It's gonna be MANIC enough through advents as it is... But now it's gonna be HORRENDOUS for us Mag Daily compers. Not a MOAN a fact

  • I promised myself I wouldn't get involved in the debate, so I won't, I do however have an idea for the thread that might suit everyone?

What about if the thread is laid out as below:

    E: ??/?? ?????
    MSE Thread Direct Link

    E: ??/?? ?????
    MSE Thread Direct Link

    E: ??/?? ?????
    MSE Thread Direct Link

    E: ??/?? ?????
    MSE Thread Direct Link

    E: ??/?? ?????
    MSE Thread Direct Link

    E: ??/?? ?????
    MSE Thread Direct Link

    E: ??/?? ?????
    MSE Thread Direct Link

    E: ??/?? ?????
    MSE Thread Direct Link

    E: ??/?? ?????
    MSE Thread Direct Link

So with TWO links, one to the thread on MSE main board and one straight to the comp, in two straight lines so that it makes it easy to Snap Links/Multi Links/Linkclump (Chrome) them all open at the same time, whichever set of links you choose to use, with links direct to each site centred into the middle so they could also be opened up in the same way if desired.

People could help make this less work by posting in this format when they add comps to the thread so the thread holder only has to copy and paste?

It's only an idea, but I think it would address a lot of the issues people are having with the thread itself.

Looks fine to me, but is there actually any need for a link to the main board thread from the list at all? If no one is going to use them why waste Jambo's time posting them.

I would think the MSE thread needs to be linked somewhere otherwise end daters aren't going to find them until they're almost ended, same as with 'normal' dailies?

I guess maybe if people follow the thread as new ones are added onto the end, the MSE link could be in that post and then the direct ones on the front page when they're added to there?

I'm not sure, like I say, it was only an idea that came to me when thinking about the issues people were mentioning with the thread being done either way.

If you are an end dater as I am, your only options with dailies are to use the daily thread or be happy with one entry. I would have thought that the purpose of putting the mag dailies on the main board was more for date posted compers.

Just can't see a benefit in linking to the main board thread from the mags list instead or as well as direct to the comp, but very happy to be educated!
  • I'm up for anything as long as I don't have to click a link to click a link to click a link.... Do comp, shut link, shut link shut link... Find next comp...

    Thanks for the suggestions :)

I'm really not getting involved in the rest of the whys and wherefores, I do have an opinion on which way I prefer it (out of the two ways it's been done) but I can't be doing with joining in all the arguing and bickering as I've nothing more to say that hasn't been said before by others.

So I'll bow out again now I've put the idea on here that I think would suit both methods.
