I know I haven't been a member long but I loved the mag dailies thread. I could open up 10 tabs a time, enter and be done within half an hour/ 45 mins. I went directly to the sites yesterday as I noticed the thread had gone and it took me an absolute age- I also couldn't find a lot of the comps I had previously entered. I do agree that it seems to be making it harder and a step backwards.

Something I do is to bookmark the links into my favorites folder in Firefox, I have three folders which can be opened with a single click of the mouse wheel. saves a huge amount of time.

I also agree with cagsd :T:T:T Just a few teeny add ons,

Nobody in this has acted badly and nobody should be made to feel badly. Toniq was absolutely right to post a few tester comps on the main board, to make the point. It has led to this VERY much needed, though not exactly pleasant, discussion. So to Toniq I also say :T:T:T

Glad is in a tricky position, in my humbles. The most important thing is not to make it easy for those posting comps, or even necessarily for the majority doing them. Though both of those are important. The thing is to make the comps as accessible as possible. I believe Glad also did the right thing in closing the mag thread. Again, a change was needed, and thanks to her, we're working on it. Clearly, it's still got some work to do to make it right, and the best way might well be to reopen the mag thread. If we'd only seen the best way straight off, it would've been lovely, but it's coming together bit by bit, as it's debated. So to Glad - the inevitable and sincere :T:T:T

My solution is exactly what cagsd said. Reopen the mag thread. Do it exactly as it was - it worked very well for most people doing those comps.

For those who don't look at that thread, all new comps should all be posted on the main board, with just the title and a linky. But they don't need to be posted individually. Perhaps one post per prize, including links to each mag running that comp. Or perhaps have a second magazine thread floating on the main board that gets bumped when some kind volunteer/s adds all the new comps. That's prob my fave way, similarly to the Puzzler/TAB thread. Means the board won't be overrun with the posts. When it's bumped people will know to look for new comps and make their choices. Also it means nobody has to worry about which comps to post there. I think ALL the comps should be posted on the main board, regardless of value. Value is not the only factor in deciding whether to enter.

    Summary:

    1) Reopen the mag daily thread. Run as before (separating RC and so on if wanted).

    2) Run a floating Mag thread on the main board where all new comps get posted, with just the title and a link to where the comp lives.

    3) Join me in a 'we're in this together' Mexican wave :T:j:T

I know this doesn't suit everyone but as I see it people who liked CPs thread will still have the same type of thread and people who want all comps on the main board will have that too :)

Just saw this while looking back through the thread - I knew there was a reason I had been expecting the direct links from the mags thread to the comps to continue.

We do not have the samr type of thread as CPs now - linking to main board posts instead of direct to the comps is not the same type of thread at all.

I was very surprised to see this sudden change without any vote.

When changing it over to the one dallies mag thread views were gathered and there was a lot in favour.

No one has asked this time.

The dallies thread was in plain site, anyone could look through it at any time.

There are just too many daillies now to go back to the old system...

I think the whole point has been missed here, and there seems to have been a "using a sledgehammer to crack a walnut" type of reaction.
The objection of some forum users was not that all the mag dailies were in their own thread; it was that some big competitions for large prizes had been only posted in the mag thread and not on the main board, therefore not giving those who only use the main board a chance to enter them. This was further complicated by the fact that those big competitions did not appear directly on the magazines' lists of prize draws, they could only be found in the mag thread.

Surely to goodness everybody knows that there was a perfectly well functioning mag thread, which had been running brilliantly these past few months thanks to the hard work of a few dedicated forumites. If people choose not to enter mag dailies, then that's up to them - I don't believe anyone needs their hand holding and competitions spelled out to them. I for one don't use the standard daily thread much, nor the weekly thread ever, so I accept there are competitions I miss out on. That's my choice.

Surely the obvious answer to this conundrum was to just make a point of posting the EXTRA competitions on the main board, with a link to the daily thread, i.e. those ones that appeared in Chat and Pickmeup magazines but not on the mag list of draws. That way, people's attention would be drawn to them, nobody would have missed out, but there would be no need to have all this duplication of effort with comps going on both main board and mag thread. I already dread Tuesday morning, logging on and seeing seven individual posts for each new prize offered. There's just no need to take this massive step backwards, and the irony is, the people who it was meant to please, don't really want it either! Nobody is benefitting I don't think. I urge the BGs to reconsider this after Christmas, please!

^^ FANTASTIC STATEMENT!!! I'm sure a HUGE amount of forum users are applauding this comment :T:T

seemed to be applied to really quite nasty posts implying that those of us that do the mag dailies deliberately wanted to keep them hidden so we could keep all the prizes.

    What is going on here?

Hmmm ODD that isn't it

I'm guessing it was just a blip, perhaps it got mixed in with other threads being moved?

So if you post on the main board (with a legitimate issue, I am quite happy with what Toniq was trying to do) you can get an entire working system that many were happy with turned upside down, badly treating those who worked so hard to keep it running, but if you present logical arguments in the discussion thread nobody answers and nothing changes?

The irony of all this is due to this "new improved" way, I haven't done the big prize from pick me up since all this started, as it isn't highlighted on the main list anymore like Cornishpasty used to do, I am not using the main list anymore as I can't be doing with faffing around clicking all over the place, and i'm not using the links on the main board as I can't find them amongst all the rafflecraptors competitions, so to those of you who campaigned for this and requested this way, best of luck to you, as it is probably only you that are now entering the big prizes that caused such a stink on here in the first place.

Is there just the 1 extra from pick me up running at the moment or are there now more hidden away on the main board that the majority are probably missing these days?

I am not getting involved in this whole stupid thing, I would just like to enter the competitions in the quickest way possible please.
