What a brilliant way to end 2014Mortgage at highest (April 2008): ~£195,000
Mortgage-free: January 2021
Retired: June 2022 (186 months early!)0 -
Just been catching up - sounds like a lovely family Christmas has been enjoyed.
And congrats on reaching the 50's! :jEarly retired - 18th December 2014
If your dreams don't scare you, they're not big enough0 -
Thank you greent, MWC, Goldigirl! tis a smug feeling indeedy!
Mortgage down to the 59s and savings up to the 7s in 2014. So, what about 2015? Well, aiming for 13k off the mortgage (though secretly hoping for more. But not anticipating as much as during 2014), and a couple more k to savings, if poss.)
That's the main money item for 2015. Everything else probably falls under the 'ponder and consider before purchase' heading.
There are various people to visit this year, so that needs scheduling. Crafting will co tinue - as presents and for fairs. Decluttering will also continue, with a goal of selling £1k's worth. I aim to reduce my weight, meal plan, and eat clean, and exercise.
And I shall continue with the monthly NST challenges.
My first notebook of the year is a reject from dd and is a Mike the Knight one, with the title 'Mission book'. Appropriate, I thought!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Well, 2015 just snuck in very quietly here!
Dd slept until well after 8.
ZCUT 1 has been accomplished: 10 belly down burpees; 10 tuck jump; 10 burpees; 20 jump lunge; 10 burpees; 30 crab kick (ie 60); 10 burpees; 40 lowjack with side kick; 10 burpees. Only took 13m29. :j
A whites wash is on.
No money has been spent thus far.
A good chat with mum has been had.
And now, the World's Strongest Man is about to start.

I've decided that January will be a month without Tilly Tidies (sorry, Tilly!) for a change.
Dd's bday and party are coming soon. Just another £25 to find for Elsa, and probably some food spending - glutenised pruducts for all those gluten-eating munchkins! We have most of the stuff for the party bags, just need to print out the pictures for the tee shirts and iron them on. And make some stickers. And possible organise some games, depending on what Elsa will do.
Things to try/do in Jan:
- make bread rolls for dh as we have plenty of mix
- make dd's bday cake + fairy cakes
- make 4 owls
- cut out 5 bunnies
- exercise hard
- eat clean
- mocks, marking and reports
I'm sure there'll be plenty more - can't get my head around being organised for the month yet!
Dd has agreed to go out today - yippee! Now to maintain another NSD...
I've watched World's Strongest Man final and dd now has a Thomas film on. We're both still in jamas - bliss!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
NSD lost, but to a worthy cause - smoothies and colour catchers! White vinegar would've joined the gang, but sainsbogs have moved it - again - and dd was NOT up for searching for it.
But we had a lovely walk in the sunshine (and wind - brrrr) to the library where dd got out 7 books (incl 3 from her Book Feast list) and I got 5.
I've been immersed in mse threads over the break, and am aware that I am spending far too much time looking at a small screen (or a gogglebox!). And simply reading the threads I'm subscribed to (esp the not buying it one) has meant that I've not caught upon other ones. I just won-t have the time to read as much when I'm back at work, so shall need to be selective...
Anyhows, washing and washing up done; dd and I both fed; ZCUT 2 done - 10 prisoner get ups, 20 sumo squat jumps, 30 side lunge jumps, 40 skaters with touch down, 50 pendulum, 60x10 high knee + plank, 70 squat jumps. All for about 19 minutes. (and I did the high knee/plank combo by doing 10 before each of the other exercises). Ooph!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Bread making/ rolls - FAIL!
But dh may eat them anyway! Cos he's nice like that...
How to use up aldee's baileys: make some baileys-flavoured choc. To give away of course...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
A lazy day indeed!
We managed a minuscule walk after lunch - in the rain. Bleurgh. But lunch was good - curried parsnip soup with apple in it too, and cream on top. Yummy!
Tea will be last night's chicken in green thai (not to be confused with greent!) curry sauce. Dh will have rice, I'll have some veg.
Am back to eating no grains and no sugar and it is liberating! Only on day 3 but my body is thanking me already. I've started 2015 2lbs heavier than 2014 - but I only bothered to lose 5 of them last year, so not a great effort. So I've joined the ultimate loser's thread to help keep me on track. That and going to Texas at Easter. And not wishing to buy new clothes - unless they are smaller ones.
I have stitched up 2 owls but knew something was wrong. Then I realised that I haven't made their wings yet. Oops.
No exercise today - a rest day. Tomorrow I'm leading kids klub, which is really stressing me. Ah well, it'll be over by 12.15!
Dear niece spent her NYE in hosp with suspected appendicitis - they operated on NYD and also removed some bowel. Ouch! She'll be in for several more days, poor thing. Not the usual NYE activity for an 18yo!
I have done absolutely NO school work during the hols, and am thinking that I may regret it... I keep thinking I'll do it in an evening - or at least look at it - but by the time dd is asleep (anywhere between about 9 and 9.45pm), I've lost the will to even contemplate it! Guess I'll find out on Monday just how much extra work I've made for myself. Aha - just remembered that y11s are doing mocks, and we have the invigilation schedule and I've done quite well from it. Shh!
Another NSD in the bag for today.
A list made of what I need to buy for dd's party. And, more importantly, what I need to do. Dd has given me 8 days to finish the 'do' list before she attacks me for a tickle fight. Ooooh, I'm scared...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -

Is the Aldee Baileys nice? I'm very tempted to give it a whirl, seeing as it's half price of the real Baileys....apple_muncher wrote: »Tea will be last night's chicken in green thai (not to be confused with greent!) curry sauce.:rotfl:
