We have the Barbie Rapunzel DVD from when my DD was small - and she and her friends watched it the other week (they're 16 and 17)
Lamb dinner sounds yummy

A bracing walk has blown away some cobwebs. No snow, but chilly winds here. Our aim was the libray, which was shut. Grrr. Didn't say so on their website, just on a notice on the door. If you knew where to look!
But we splashed out 30p on a tinkerbell book that dd then read in the coffee shop. Dd and I both had a slice of g-f choc cake, as it is rarely available. Actually, I had 1 1/2 slices as she wasn't that keen! Oh dear - a little more density added...
I got the aldee bits done alone, as dh stayed with dd to finish her book. Plenty of full trolleys, but not me! Spent £15, and £4.70 of that was on stuff for my sister and niece's visit later today. There'll be a veg box delivery plus another small shop before the end of the month. I may, just may, keep to the budget!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Nah, not going to keep to food budget. Veggie box is approx £12.50, andI simply don't think the food shop will keep to the remaining £2.42! However, I'm doing better at continuing to log spending all the way to the end of the month...
After this morning's showing of the World's Strongest Man, dd and I are off to town. She has £10 to spend and we are off to toysrus - a smallish version of the megastore! I couldn't cope with the huuuge ones, and I think dd's head might explode with all the choice!
Dh is going to stay at home and possibly crack on with his tax thingy. The one that's due Jan 31st - but he's likely to be away for the second half of the month, so should do it early.
Our printer is refusing to work. No pre-signs, no warnings. Just refuses to function. Dh has taken it very personally! A replacement is needed, as we have to print the pics onto special paper to iron onto the tee-shirts for the party bags at dd's party. So I think that'll be his priority over the tax thingy, as it is more fun to find! :rotfl:.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Well done to dh - he has done his tax thingy and is due a rebate :T. And it is more than enough to pay for a new printer too.
I am proud of dd. We popped into the Dis Store and left very soon as the doll she wanted to look at wasn't there. Toyrus was sooo full of tat - even the reduced things - and she did super well to leave with nothing. We then met my friend and had lunch, then headed to TKMaxx. In amongst their toys they had a Sy1vanian family 'item' down to £10. Spot on! And dd has spent the afternoon playing with it all. The RRP was £29.99 - definitely not worth that much - then down to 12.99, then 10.
Buying food in Pret has highlighted just how easy it is to fritter money away - over £11 is a LOT for me now! And that was without dh to feed too.
Back home, I have unravelled 3/4 of the jumper it took me months to knit (!). Dd agrees that I'll be able to make a lot of owls from the wool. A whole forest-full, methinks. I might be able to use the same basic pattern for a cat...
As regards out trip to see dh's mum - she is going to send us the money for our tickets :j.
And as regards 'terminal density', I have reached a new upper limit! Am hoping I don't break through any further, but 'hoping' doesn't really change much, does it...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Am sure I've reached a new limit of density too
fab news re money for the tickets - how lovely of DH's mum!
And yeay!! for tax rebates!! (although I think my DH will have a tax bill this year)

Gosh, what a lazy day!
But a good one!
Poor dh has had to go to work, so dd and I are pottering on happily. Big sis and niece left this morning and dd is half-dressed - she really loves her Cmas jamas!
So, operation tidy-up has started gently. The cards are mostly down and chopped up for present tags. Dd's cards are still up - there's only so much I can ask her to do, and she managed 3 thank you letters earlier on.
Big sis has pets and I am extremely allergic to fury critters, so their bedding has been stripped and washed with the towels they used.
The underneath of dd's bed has been emptied, a rug put down, then the tetris-style replacement of her toys... She does have a lot! But I got her much much less this year than others, but she does love nearly all of it. In fact the only duff purchase was me panicking at not habing a mermaid for her and getting one off amzon, and it's rubbish!! The charity shops yielded up good buys through the year and dd now has a plentiful supply of many things!
All the windows were full of condensation, so they have all had a thorough wipe down and dry. Doing a wash won't really help, but 2 fewer bodies in the house will.
An owl is 3/4 knitted - I may make a family of 4 for dd's friend who has a bedroom with a woodland scene, bday in May.
Some of dd's Cmas pile has been homed... Just over 2 weeks to more stuff for her bday - gulp!
Terminal density is slightly reduced from yesterday
Dd has spent a looong time today playing with her Syl Family set - plus bits I got in a ch shop, and with a PP water play set I got off FB for not very much. That's what I like - valooo for money!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Today's plan includes sweeping the downstairs floors so that we can get out dd's wooden train track. This also involves clearing away the rest of dd's gubbins.
And putting the tree back outside, having rationalised the decs.
And maybe going to the library. But that would mean that dd would have to get dressed...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Dd is still in her jamas
. The floor has mostly been swept and the train track is out.
We are also going through some boxes of stuff and sorting. Dd has agreed for nearly all of her pencil crayons and felt tips to go to the ch shop, as she has an 'art case'. This is a major step forward for her! I've been spending a happy time scribbling to check the pens all work. The bin is full of dud pens and other bits and bobs I've come across.
One discovery was a whole load of ohp pens - anyone remember teaching in those days? The non-permanent ones. Plus a dozen or so board pens. I must have had these for a looooong time! But they will return to work with me in the new year for the pupils to use on the mini whiteboards we have! They will now be fighting over the colours - may need to install a reward scheme where they have to be worthy enough to get certain colours...! Hmmm, may lead to mutiny!
Right. Off to play bagatelle with dd.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
I was completely thrashed at bagatelle - by 10,000 points! We only played 1 game each - dd certainly knows when to quit!
The tree is now outside - I reckon it'll be mightily pleased to be back where it should be. Need to find where dh 'hid' the Cmas box when he cleared space for sis + niece. Once I locate it (and it's pretty massive, so must be in the loft...) I want to remove some of the decs inside it. But dh and dd must never know. Shhhhh.
I decided to declutter some of my old glasses and cases - 3 pairs and 2 cases. And under them all was a little brown envelope from the one time I attempted to use the 'envelope' system (for all of 3 days!! Really could NOT get on with it!). And inside the envelope was a £10 note :j. So glad I checked before popping it into the recyc! That's gone into another envelope already - the one to pay for Elsa, taking that up to £105.
Lovely neighbour is having a sort out and has given me 4 coats/jackets - lucky me! Need to wash them first, as she has a dog, and wears mucho make-up and perfume. All things that make me itch just to think about!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -

This is our mortgage as of now! We made it into the 50s - yippee!!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0
