Today I snowboarded for thr first time. And I loved it! As did Pip. The season ends tomorrow and we had rain, sleet, snow... Am very grateful that step DD did all the driving for us. I'm just waiting for my turn in the shower.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!2

And after the fun and frolics of snowboarding, I came down with rotten sinus pain and felt rotten (!) for 36 hours. Step DD got me a humidifier for our room, which has helped soooooo much. At least they have a version of balm tissues here!Today I paddled in Lake Wasa. Totally clear water with a backdrop of snow-covered Rockies. Awesome. In other news, Pip can't face going back to school. Ever. Maybe college in September? A levels? Apprenticeship?NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!1

Oh love! Education is not only for 4-18.
I did one of my A levels at evening classes because the my school didn't do it but the AE college did (in a 1 year version 2 hours a week). As long as Pip is learning something that they can cope with and rock up to - you know how rigid the system is, thank God you are their Mum!

Travel broadens the mind and puts things into perspective. That distance has helped Pip make a decision- and let's face it, 20 years ago you were an adult at 17 and your parents kicked you out to F-ing well adult, or be an au-pair , or go interrailing across Europe.
We really are infantalising our young people .
Enjoy your holiday, the bright blinding sunshine of the last week has turned to torrential rain 🌧4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Thanks f0xh0les ♥️ We need to contact the school to arrange an urgent meeting. Ugh. But Pip is burnt out and cannot continue as things as. What we've been doing isn't working , so we need to approach it differently. Yes, he could go to school and do school work at school, but then he'd not be able to take showers, eat properly, function beyond the bare minimum. That's not a life I want him to have.Yesterday we had horizontal snow ❄️. Blighty might have April showers, but Canada has Fool's Spring!Pip (and step son in law) played with a chainsaw yesterday evening and cut down 2 dead trees. Dh filmed it.Dh has enjoyed chopping logs. But not the kindling - the first time he did it he tried to add the very top of his thumb to the mix. A 'graze' he called it until I looked at it and reclassified it as a 'gouge'. He really should have adult supervision...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!2

And that is why I cut down the trees and Dr F-H gets to make the tea. He also is banned from anything to do with tile removal or cutting.
Not his skill set.
A&E appreciate it.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Son in law took me and dh on a mountain walk/hike this afternoon. There was a surprising quantity of snow still - the sort that's more icy snow than proper snow. We were regularly sinking unexpectedly up to our calves - or knees in my case. I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge for 3/4 of it, despite having soaking feet and my leggings b ing sodden up to my knees and my hands being sore from falling so much. Then, to cap it all, I twisted my knee sharply followed a few mins later by twisting the ankle of the same leg. The last few hundred metres were quite slow! Id also pronged a finger on a fallen tree and was dripping blood!!!I have since had a lovely bath and have put arnica cream on both joints which are rather hurty. Ah well, twas an adventure!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

Gosh, definitely an adventure.
See what the school suggests re PIP but as f0xh0les says plenty of time and other options. Part time at college, evening classes etc. Possibly also ot instead vocational stuff + any qualifications or courses related to his interests - bouldering for example.
Hugs. You are an amazing human being and mum2
