Recently a mattress, a chest of drawers with shelves on top and a mid-high bed have all left the house. Yay!Next on the list is a sideboard, which is currently full of Pip's art stuff from over the years. Not sure yet if that'll go before we travel or not...Monday 17/6 is our D day - demolition day. I'm stoopidly excited about it. Plus, the builder chap would be more than happy for us to have removed some stuff ourselves before he comes along. But first, there's the incy wincy teeny tiny issue of shifting everything out of the kitchen and under stairs cupboard into the lounge area...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!4

I have 39 more to mark, so hope it will all be finished by Friday. Whoop! My next round of marking doesn't need so much space to do it, so I shouldn't need the whole table (famous last words??). (But I will be doing that in the midst of the kitchen era... And I need to have finished all the sewing with the sewing machine so that that too can leave the table, or at least get it's cover on so it's not gather dust from the work to be done. And then the table will be available for more stuff to go on it. I currently have all the db/bb weights stacked under and on the two chairs up against the wall. And the kettlebells are hiding between the sofa and an armchair.Today's goal is to get the other shelving unit out from under the stairs and into the lounge and re-stacked with all its gubbins. And mark. And visit builder friend in between dropping off and picking up Pip.The big beautiful blue yoga mat has already arrived! It's 90x190cm and will go on top of the wood that is covering the slats on the top bunk in Pip's room. And thus the Book Nook is created! And the myriad of books belonging to Pip can now shift upstairs. His goal today is to clear all the books dotted around downstairs, then the piles lining the stairs...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!3

Okay, this sounds a little bit unrealistic darling apple. I think you need to accept it is going to be utter chaos for at least the first week, probably 2 and Pip is going to find it difficult.
You won't be able to find anything, everyone is going to be annoyed by the noise, the dust will be horrific and three days in you are going to panic and get the 'oh my god what have I done!! I have destroyed my house' 's.
But it will get exciting when it all starts to come together again.
And builders are flipping loud!!! All the time. Not just the demolition , and the nail guns and sawing. They just don't have an 'indoor voice' and they sing!!. All the time. It is worse when the plumber/electrician comes. No volume control at all.
So if you can find somewhere else to work during 7-3pm then have that back up there, if you are happy to leave them in the house unsupervised.
I hope you have quiet builders, but I haven't met one yet.

I think I'm blissfully ignorant of just how noisy and dirty it will be!I should be completely done with marking 1 by the weekend and the next one doesn't start until the following weekend. Also, I go to Mancunia from Tues afternoon to Thurs evening cos I'm higher up the pecking order for marking 2, so I get to travel to the metropolis and stay in a hotel. A quiet, tranquil, peaceful, clean hotel!!!So I leave just after all the destruction and emptying of the space, and return to ...??? But at least there might be some difference...! Even if it is that the upstairs is now downstairs...Pip is planning a hasty exit to the library on Monday!Dh and I will be here keeping an eye on stuff, and also acting as gophers as required - anything to help speed things up/keep costs down.I miscounted the number left to mark, saying it was 39, when it was really 45. But now it's 34. That's enough for today.I don't think I've mentioned that dh is working extra this week, so is doing 6.30-13.30 as well as 16.30-18.30 every day. At least it's only a 10 min walk away, but he was - unsurprisingly - already knackered yesterday after just one day of it. So I get to go to IK3A all on my own on Thurs (Pip can go climbing while I'm there) to change the plans slightly and arrange delivery. I might even have to pay for it!!!Right, dh is due home soon and it's been pelting with rain and he'll want some food.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!4

I really hope you have 'magic fairy builders', but there is still nothing wrong with gaffer taping up a doorway to upstairs with a tarp /dustsheet/binbags while they are doing the knocking down. That and when they go home for the night spray the air with a squirty water bottle on 'mist' to bring the dust out of the air and onto the ground. It works. And if Pip has a friend who wants to have them for a sleepover ? Just in case? or a c0sta-c0ffee gift card4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Yep, I'm planning on having magic fairy quiet builders!!!!!!!We'll pin up a cut up king size duvet cover round the stairs, but seeing as they will be replacing the 'wall' between the under stair cupboard and the lounge, I just reckon muck will get e v e r y w h e r e downstairs.I've been to Ik3a this afternoon to finalise the plan and tweak a couple of bits. Dh has paid for it. And it will arrive on Sunday! We do need to buy flooring pronto, as that is what will be put in first. Dh is really regretting the fact that I go away on Tues lunchtime until Thurs evening. Plus I'm out for most of Sat (10.30-4.30 then 5.30-7.45) and doing kids klub on Sunday so out 9-1.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!4

My marking is all finished. Whoop whoop! Just some pesky admin to finish and papers to post. SO it's not really finished....And I finally finished the beehive tea cosy for my sister's bday a week ago and got that sent off. Now, I've been trying to get hold of a gazebo for the school fair I'm doing tomorrow. All the usual people who have one seem to now only have a broken one or a really heavy duty one. So I've gone and ordered one from Argus (at dh's behest) and can go and collect it from Sainz anytime before 10pm. I'm relieved, given tomorrow's forecast. Now to get as much done on my sewing machine as I can before it gets packed away...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!3

I'm so glad the organisers put me inside the big marquee at yesterday's fair as the rain was heavy, erratic and accompanied by strong gusts and thunder! I made a profit of £31 and had some lovely chats with old friends.I was home and then out 15 mins later to take Pip bouldering and I did my first workout for a week. It's taken 24 hours, but I can feel it now!Today has mainly centred on prep for tomorrow, punctuated by 4 1/2 hours for me doing kids klub. Dh has re-routed all the internet stuff so we'll not be wifi-less. Ik3a's lovely delivery men brought all 137!!!! items. We then put the gazebo up, pegged it down and shifted some items back outside. I've been moving the kitchen cupboard items into boxes (or the bin, or the charity shop box) and we've decided to stop now. There's still a scary amount to do, but it'll have to happen tomorrow, before 8 o'clock when builder chaps arrive. In other news, I picked about 1500g of rasps without having to try too hard. And I probably ate another 200g or so 🤣.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!3
