Turns out dh's meeting yesterday was just a social get together. So no further on yet. Dropped off pip, then a bag of recycle-only-at-the-supermarket plastic bags at the supermarket, and a couple of pairs of shoes to the variety club shoe bin. Got some bits from aldee plus a fair amount of prizes for my classes (I hand out raffle tickets in lessons, so we need a raffle with prizes!) Hung up the washing to dry. Walked/trammed to liddle for the above bargains and trammed/bussed home and put away. Then set to a bodyweight workout from Zuzka Light and washed and sorted myself out after that. Made food and ate it, followed by doing all of my interim reports and chilling out. Finished needle felting the clothes for the girl bunny, got pip, am feeding pip, will take pip to dance then walk home and back before bringing them home in the car (it's 1 mile in the car but less on foot due to cut through. It's uphill all the way there so I try to save pip's energy by driving.) Dh has made a shepherd's pie for our tea - yum! All in all, a good day.

Glad today is over. Got to work to find the head had written on my trip proposal form. There's a clash with a day of d of e training, which affects 4 kids. Out of 40 on the trip. Head wanted me to rearrange my trip. Bl00dy Stoopid. I didn't choose the date, he did. Absolutely threw me into a tizzy. Can't imagine how much it would cost to change the coach date and book another ferry date. So, I talked to dep head, who should really have known about the clash in the first place and said something (but fluff doesn't talk...). She said No Way to change my date for just 4 pupils. So I've emailed coach people just to get an idea of the cost of changing then will let everyone know the amount. And how prohibitive it is. Then write to parents of the 4, refund their money and go with the original plan. I hope.

However, the day ended well. I talked to the colleague who wants to learn french about getting together. Then... the colleague with a littl'un in nursery came along so we chatted about setting something up. She's a networker and loves all that, and already has a bunch of friends with kids the same age as hers, who she reckons would jump at the chance of some French. She'll also look at pricing it. And said I could use her house. (Rather than them all have to travel to me). Whoop whoop!!!

Both of those sound really good, apple - the nonsense about cancelling the trip has caused you aggro, yes, but it's obvious that your approach is the only sensible one.  And the French stuff just sounds fantastic!  You go girl 🌈

  • A little after school French club for small people sounds great! Lots of singing and pointing and shouting words and then hand them back over to their parents.

The head is a complete incompetent @apple_muncher...but what can I say that you don't already know?! As ever, you are tackling the situation with both grace and a firm grip. This sort of thing will make your resignation even more satisfying.   Will you do it in person, followed by letter? Onwards and upwards love Humdinger xx

I think I may just send a letter!!! And then if they want to talk, they can ask to see me😂. I discussed this with a non-school friend, and concluded that I'll sugar coat why I'm going. Friend pointed out that he'll either give it some thought, or he won't. Not gonna use up my energy on him.

Ooh, just remembered that the receptionist told me that an ex pupil had popped in to school on Thurs, and asked after me! He was in my form as a y11. He's now 31! And doing well.

I'm just back from a visit to mum. The first in a long time. I hadn't wanted to leave pip, and wasn't really fit to go. We had a lovely time 🥰 and I kept it short and sweet. Fortunately the trains all worked fine and by leaving home earlier than originally planned, I got there an hour earlier than expected and am therefore now home!
