No surprise (to me) but pip has not made it into school this morning. We've already had a lot of tears and many hugs have been required. They are just so so tired. The current plan is to go in for the lesson before lunch... and I might pick up after the lesson after lunch. Pip is in such a state that they can't make any decisions. But until then, pip is in bed, hopefully sleeping. And last night's performance was simply fabulous. 3 different schools performing at the Shakespeare Schools Festival. 3 very different plays, all done extremely well. Dh picked us up from the station, but even so, we weren't home much before 11. Ugh.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!5

Ah poor Pip! Feeling so tired you can't decide what to do is awful, right up there with being so hungry you can't decide what you want to eat! Hopefully they're feeling a little brighter today!"You won't bloom until you're planted" - Graffiti spotted in Newcastle.

Thanks VH, that's spot on. The autism makes decision making harder anyway and the tiredness makes it practically impossible. Pip had said that they thought that they should go in for p1 today. Nope, says I. But I'm probably ok to do that, says pip. Nope, says I, you need to have the extra sleep so that you can do the rest of the day. Ok, says pip. Phew!So I woke pip at 8, after going to the gym- having a time to work with means I sometimes get things done (!)- and they were in school by 10. I'm now alternating 20 mins knitting with 20 mins of reading.I spent some happy time down the etsee rabbit hole yesterday, and bought some cmas items. I have my list but it has so little written next to the names!!!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!5

Let's face it, teenagers who *aren't* autistic often don't know what they want. And plenty of adults don't do what's right for them (Me! Me me me ... lack of exercise). Pip is doing fine, especially with you to look after the sleep and nutrition. In the last 30 years or so, since friends' children started to become teenagers, I honestly don't know of a single one who got through their teenage years without issues (including stabbing a stepfather).2023: the year I get to buy a car2

Thank you, karma ❤️.Today I've been at pip's school fair where I made.... £82.40. It seemed a very quiet afternoon, but I obviously somehow managed to sell things 😎. For the first time, I remembered to take before and after photos, so I can have a look at them tomorrow and see if I need to madly make anything more for this Friday's fair at my school...I chatted there with a couple of friends, chatted with the new Head, and also met the Exams Officer and data manager (my friend there is part time exams officer-helper), who I told about my application 😁.Ooh, pip signed a bit of paper yesterday and now has 25% extra time in exams. Sooo pleased.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!5

Today's realisation: I recalled a question my counsellor asked when I was talking about my weight: Is it due to the antidepressants? Well, I finally went back to look at my f1tb1t stats and yes, since May/June, my weight has steadily increased. I'm currently 2 stone heavier than the start of this year. That is a lot.I'm not about to stop the happy pills, so I need a plan.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!3

With all the exercise you do? That's insane! Surely your doctor can adjust the dosage or the type of pill, *something* - you're so dedicated, they must help you cope with that "side effect"2023: the year I get to buy a car2

Thanks karma! I'll mention it to him next time I go.I know I exercise a fair amount, but I also sit on my backside a lot. And eat a lot... Oops. But if I can make a plan and stick to it, I might see changes...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!2

@apple_muncher one fascinating book I've read recently is by a sensible medical doctor M*ke M*seley. He talks about how everyone is different and so diets need to be personalised. 'Nothing expensive, mind you; I read this when i was already aiming to reverse type 2 diabetes and I'm on the cusp of doing it. For me, losing 2+stone since June has got me here and lowered my blood sugar levels from horrifyingly, gothically high to normal. Low carb and no sugar work for me. Can I suggest you get his book...it's called something like the Good Gut diet and there's another where he talks about blood sugar in more detail. I'm in my late 50s and didn't believe I could lose weight but have. Onwards and upwards love Humdinger xx3
