That reminds me, last month in our Mr L's all the smoked salmon was down to 70p, and the chap in front of me had  20  odd packets of it.  Some impulse buy!

  • Sorry to hear things at work are dire. I worked somewhere like that and hated it. Some of the things you always were exactly - almost to the word- how I was communicated with. I got through it with a plan to leave. Now I'm in a teaching job that is totally different and I love it.

As long as it wasn't affecting the pupils just tedious admin tasks, I used to challenge myself to do it in 30 mins or copy something off the internet or ask a teacher at another school for their documentation etc how can I do it with limited effort on my part? it kept me amused anyway!

Lots of good luck and there are great teaching and other jobs out there, go for it!!

It's funny, I'd never have described my situation as 'dire' but I guess that's because I'm in the middle of it. I have my escape plan and that always makes me feel better 😁. Even if it is rather vague.
After yesterday's power pump and yoga, I've taken it easy today. I was going to wander to liddle (2.5m) and set off, but just 1.5 miles in, had a call from pip. They'd forgotten their laptop and could I possibly drop it off. Fortunately I was right by a tram stop. Unfortunately, a tram had just left! Anyhow, I got it up to the school within about 35 mins, which I reckon is pretty good going.
I finally got around to doing some marking. And, surprise, surprise! It didn't take long at all! That class aren't in school tomorrow (head of year has taken y7+8 to Disneyland Paris. First I knew of it was when the kids asked me if I was going...), but I've carried it to and from school several times, which is frankly, rather silly 🤦.
We have had quite a positive reply from the school about pip staying on but only doing 2 A levels, which is fab 🎉. They (and we) have spent the last year planning not to stay on , as the push for excelling academically as well as doing a ton of extra stuff was too much. But as pip has looked at other places to see what they offer subject-wise and autism-wise, they have realised that staying where they are known might be a good thing.

  • Another happy visit to liddle done and dusted! My f+v box today contains:
    1 punnet of grapes
    1 pack baby cucumbers
    1 cauli - medium
    1 sweet potato
    1 beefy tomato
    1 lemon
    1 pear
    2 red onions
    2 parsnips
    3 pieces of ginger
    3 small potatoes
    5 big bulbs of garlic
    7 yellow onions
    8 baking potatoes
I also nabbed a couple of bags of salad for 20p each, and a tray of 4 dips and a bag of veg for 70p each. And, to cap it all, the cottage cheese I went in to buy was down to 70p each, so I got 4. Grand total £6.10.
We had a surprise refund of just over £130 yesterday :) I'd asked pip's art teacher if they was any chance of a refund for the travel part of the trip, as we took pip ourselves. She said she'd ask the finance dept to try. And they have produced! Very happy. That can stay in the parentpay account for other things.
This morning, a chap is coming round to pick up some syl fam items that I put on gumt (part of the bargain £60 bundle I bought the other week, and need to recoup some of the money as pip doesn't want everything)
So, it is the weekend and all is well.
I even had the neighbour's cat run to the back door when he saw me <3so I gave him some cat treats we bought specially!

Turns out that I know the exams officer at pip's school, as I miraculously bumped into her on the premises today. 😁
Pip managed the morning but just couldn't do any more, so I went and collected at lunchtime. I'm glad I went to the gym this morning instead of waiting until later.
