I gave pip a lie-in this morning, which meant that I went to the gym early before waking them up. It benefitted them as they then managed the whole day. We're doing the same tomorrow. The timetable is such that both weeks, on a thurs and a Fri, pip can go in for 10 and not miss an academic class.
We have to write generic comments for our y11+13 reports at work, and send to x. My colleague had asked how we'd do it, so I sent her modified versions of old ones (adapted for these groups) and she forwarded them to x. X has now replied saying that the comments are not long enough and must be extended. B0110x. As a parent, I don't really care about the details of what my child has studied. I care about the teacher comments about their individual exam performance and how they as an individual are doing. So, tomorrow, I shall write to x and ask just how long the flippin' comments have to be. This x is the x who wrote the timetable... Nuff said.

Too damned ignorant to pour p*ss from a boot, if I may say so
@apple_muncher! Please excuse me but the sooner you are away from there, the better.  Love Humdinger xx

There are also some fabulous people there, I promise! But I guess that they are the ones shoring up the timbers, bailing out the boat, dealing with all the fallout, etc, etc... The others seem to carry blithely on, ignorant of the trail of destruction that they leave in their wake...
In some ways I do wish that I was jumping ship earlier but part of me is stubborn and having decided to stay until August, stay I shall. To benefit from the y11+13 leaving and me getting 'extra' spare time. Also, to prepare and see those lovely pupils through their exams.
I'm perfectly ok once I'm at the place, it's the day before being there (and the morning of the days themselves) that make me want to not be there. I have never been like this over work in all my 30+ years of teaching. There was always some one who supported, was fun to be with, was kind, and who had the authority for me to know that they were looking out for us all. Tis no longer the case.
Enough repeating myself! Maybe I should work out a countdown to my last day of teaching...like an advent calendar!

My kids have worked out how many school days left til Christmas (18 and 1/2 thanks for asking!) and they were dancing around the house when they realised that meant there were 18.5 school days left THIS YEAR!! Some whooping might have occurred.... and they like going to school.  Your commitment to stay til the end of term is laudable... but you are allowed to change your mind if it is impacting your life and you have 'That Sunday Night Feeling' before going in to school the next day.
If pip was feeling what you are feeling before going in to school for the day, would you make them go?  Just asking for a friend. :p

So, I have just 9 working days left this year! And one of those is extra (yes, I'm being paid!!!) for mock GCSE orals (will ensure I claim 'extra' to account for the tech stuff, uploading, renaming and marking...). Another is the last day of term which is a day I don't work but I'll go in, so a chance to enjoy being with my friends there and the lovely kids.
Into 2023, and I'll have approx 24 days up to Easter plus a possible day trip to France and another orals day, and approx 20 until the summer break. Gosh, that's not a lot. This working 2 days a week doesn't add up to much.
Therefore I need to look to myself and not allow Sch stuff to hang over me on the days I'm not officially working 😎.
And it is now the weekend 🎉

Oh, I really like the countdown, and the realisation of how few days there actually are!  Not losing more days to them would be a big help :)
2023: the year I get to buy a car
  • Haven't bought V1tal1te for ages as I last bought it on offer at £1.19 and got 4. It is now £1.95. Eek.
Today's veg box could have been about 50 bananas, but I chose a different one! Definitely worth my £1.50 :D
    9 sm red peppers
    6 small carrots
    4 bananas
    4 small potatoes
    3 medium potatoes
    3 sm red onions
    3 parsnips
    2 mahoosive potatoes
    2 long peppers
    2 bulbs of garlic
    2 kiwi fruit
    2 red bell peppers
    1 tomato
1 piece if ginger (must find a use for these)
1 aubergine (really must try to eat this one and not give it away...)
    1 sm gem lettuce
    1 swede
    1 avocado
    3/4 punnet grapes
Also got another bunch of cut basil for 20p to trim the stalks and put in water until it sprouts enough roots to be able to pot it up - and add to cmas presents for local people (obv not going to post to big sis way up north...!)
spicy parsnip + carrot + garlic soup; baked potatoes (I love 'em, dh not so keen); cauli cheese using an old cauli + onions + small peppers + garlic; mini cucs (from last week) + pepper strips + dip (reduced 70p) or hummous (reduced 20p); Spanish omelette (potato, onion, garlic, egg); fruit salad (grape, kiwi, apple, pear, plum, nana)
Might make some almond milk as it's so simple. Then i can use it for porridge and not be bothered by zapping it too finely. Hmm, apple nips off to put some almonds in to soak...

I've made the soup and it's about 5 portions. I saved the water from cooking the cauli to put in it, so I feel rather virtuous 😎.
The cauli cheese had no cheese in the end as it had savoury flakes and bacon and was scrummy.
The mini cukes and dip were yesterday's lunch.
The almond milk has been made and some of it is in with oats so they can do their overnight thing.
I also cooked some real melt-in-the-mouth liver and onion for tea, with another 2 servings left over.
    The fridge is full!
Pip has had a fair day, pretty relaxing although out twice. Both things energised them, which is good. They've a busy week ahead... And when they were out this evening, I went for a little run. 🏃
Tomorrow, I'm in work, conducting speaking tests. I'll be paid, but it'll make the week seem long. The best thing is that I'll get to see the colleague who also teaches French and who I never see because of the timetable 😁.

Extra work done. It all went smoothly - after 30 years of doing them, I just about know what I'm doing!
    Gym visit done too.
    Washing in the machine.
Now to buy a train ticket to see pip at the theatre tomorrow eve - a school thing. Not expecting the rest of the week to go well for pip as they insist that they will go in to school as normal on Weds, but concede that they'll go in later on Thurs and Fri...
