All in all, a 7 hour delay, finally arriving at 11pm. Lovely niece came to meet us and ordered a taxi for us, so we got to the accommodation by 11.30. A quick cooking of food and then to bed, to crash out. Pip needed the hwb they'd brought along and this morning I've sussed out the heating as the place is damp and chilly.

We've settled in ok. Have listed the 'disappointments' with the place. There are rather a lot of them unfortunately... It's not a house, it's not seasidey by any stretch of the imagination, 1mm of WUL does not constitute cleaning materials, the side back door (opens into the old coal shed which itself has an old door to the outside) doesn't shut so there's a permanent draught, the grill pan has no handle, the floors are filthy if you walk round barefoot (which I do), there's no chopping board...blah, blah, blah.
We found a bouldering place up the metro line, so have been there today and I have booked in my friend and her three for an induction there tomorrow, along with us. Pip loved it and I foresee another couple of visits!
Pip is very nervous already about meeting these friends again after a break of 3 years or so. And by tomorrow, they'll be terrified!!!

We had a good time with the friends. Me and my friend did a fair bit of climbing too, which I am very proud of. I now have really really stiff hands and think my body will ache a bit tomorrow. The warm up was tough, cos of my breathing, but I did enjoy myself 😎.
We're going to meet up again tomorrow afternoon somewhere on the beach. And in the morning, we hope to get to the Tynemouth station market. But that is 2 big things for pip to do... They are now in bed and I'll not be up much longer either. However, the dog upstairs is howling pretty constantly (I'm guessing the owners are out) so we'll see if that prevents us sleeping...

So sorry the accommodation is poor.  You may already know that the market at Tynemouth station is very busy (though I usually go on PBFA days) so do bear that in mind with Pip.  The Italian restaurant adjacent is good but I know you have dietary needs.

Thanks peb. I'm expecting busy! Pip wants to have the opportunity to wander around on their own, which is a good thing.
Friends aren't paddle boarding today as winds are offshore and advice is not to do it! So we'll meet them at the market later. They have 3 teenagers so aren't up to much in the mornings, and I think we tired them out bouldering yesterday...
Dog did stop howling soon after 10 when owners returned - there was a happy 5 mins of yipping and running up and down, then it quietened down.

    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Well, we 'did' Tynemouth station market. Pip went off on their own for specific periods of time. They bought some rough crystals; I bought some rings; then I bought us both some earrings. We did bump into our friends briefly. Pip is now wrecked. I think they'll stay home tomorrow and I'll go and meet up with sis + bil on my own.
I also bought some wools. One green to see if it'd work for something for bil. One pale yellow for Luna's hair and two exceeding pale yellowish ones for Draco's. So I can make a set of Harry, Ron, Hermione, Luna and Draco. Though I'll need to sell a gazillion sets if I'm to pay pip's fees next year...! However, it is a project with a purpose and it also reduces the amount of chocolate I put in my mouth...

Pip did stay home and I met up with sis and bil. Tynemouth station was heaving. Ugh. However, I did come back with red DMs in my size for £30 and a wire + stones star, and a felted fox for pip for cmas.
Then back for lunch and pip and I went to the bouldering place. Again! Pip climbed a bit and recorded their climbs plus ones from previous visits. After this , back on the metro to the coast to find our friend on Cullercoats beach. My friend's mum was also there, so that was a lovely surprise. We got home late for us, so our plan to pack tonight got rather scuppered as we're both bushwhacked.
So, I'm taking extra home: one hand towel, 1 pair DMs, 4 balls of wool, presents from sis, bits of jewellery and items for pip, 1 pair mama trousers. Oops!
