humdinger - it seems to be simple incompetence and thoughtlessness. At least, I hope so! I've emailed my head (and got the reply that he is out on annual leave until the 25th). And also the Chair of trustees, who used to work in the school, has known pip since they were a tiny baby, and who I thought should know how the situation has made me feel.

It is now done, until I hear from the head. Assuming I do... (rolly eyes smilie...)

Right, it's done now, the head is on annual leave till 25th, and may not even get back to you on his first day back, so try, try, try, to put it out of your head and relaxez this week, in the shade, in the coolest part of the house, whichever

In + out of the paddling pool, karma!!! Though a chilly damp dungeon would be perfect for this type of weather...

Pip is with a friend for the day - at the friend's house, fortunately. So I've dropped off, liddled and gymed. And dipped in the pool.

Happy news is that I have been specially selected (my words, not theirs) to mark more speaking tests cos I'm just so darn good at it. Deadline is 29th. I put on my best del Monte hat, and said YES!!!! and also how many I'm willing to mark.

I did check first that I've been paid for all the previous batch I completed - v remiss of me not to have checked already. Oops.

I have also checked that none of my team need me to check their work. Oooh, lots of checking going on here!!!

So, now to claim:

We were recommended to claim each item separately because the new system is a bu99er and will reject claims if it is in a huff about something. By claiming separately, if one is rejected, then there's still a chance for the others to be accepted...

Other happy news is finding fuel for 184.9, a whole 9p cheaper than everywhere else. So I filled up, of course.

It has cooled down to 29.2° in our room - positively chilly 😂😂😂.

The paddling pool has been put to good use today. I spent a lot of time outside alternately dipping in the pool and laying on a towel in the shade- with the hot wind blowing over me, it was cooling. I also watched a lot of CrossFit on utube 😎.

Dh spent the day repeatedly hanging up wet pillow cases and spraying the curtains down.

Bizarre to think that tonight's 9pm temp is more than tomorrow's maximum is forecast to be.

Pip crashed a bit last night, a mini meltdown at midnight. Not surprising- 3 big things in the day. First, meeting up with youth leader to talk about upcoming camp; then orthodontist and retainers that are a bit ouchy; finally a radical change of hairstyle ending up with less hair than when they were born (!). It was too much change.

So today has been gentle for us both, cos I strained my back with standing tricep exercises yesterday, but didn't find out the extent of it until I stretched and moved around this morning 😂.

And my extra marking has been uploaded- I wasn't expecting it until this evening or tomorrow morning. So I've pottered on with that and done 15/80.

Turns out that they interviewed at school today for the other French teacher. But the head's email response to my email on Sunday was an automatic out of office one, so he shouldn't have been there. But my source says he was. Sigh. Bizarre. Twits!!!!!!

My lower back is still v stiff and painful, though less than yesterday, and I do have more range of motion.

Earned a few more pennies with the cap being lifted on one component. But now I should return to the arranged ones with the Friday deadline...

Pip had a haircut 3 days ago. We bleached the none-number-two bits yesterday morning. We washed-up-mermaided it yesterday. This afternoon we tried teal stripes (but my technique wasn't too good) which really only made the mermaid colour darker. Pip is currently sitting with bits of foil in their hair and vibrant blue on the hair inside. Gulp...

Depending on what Pip wanted, that actually sounds very nice - it might go with my metallic blue toenails, for starters!
