Horrid situation Apple. If you resigned 1st day of term or last day of this term can you leave at half term? Although that's not giving you much time to find something.

enjoy your trip across the waves, sunny weekend ahead.

Just to add that constructive dismissal is very hard to prove plus even if successful you wouldn't get "loads a money*.

Ps, I adore Guernsey. Have a wonderful time.  If you swim go to the ladies pool,  it's amazing

PPS. Irrespective of what DH says you are entitled to be you, and you are allowed to feel negative

I suppose the inset day at the start of term will be when you meet 'the mysterious other teacher' who in my head is a woman  (sexist!!) I have never been taught a language by a man. Isn't that funny?
Okay, so my advice is 'don't borrow trouble'. The other person does not exist yet. They are a 'future person'.  So you get to enjoy your summer holidays knowing that nothing is set in stone,  nothing has been decided.
And as for ...  I imagine I'll set up a plan of who teaches what units to what class, and then get on with it - cos the other teacher won't have a clue what to suggest....
I really think that is not your problem, unless you are the HoD, and unless they have specifically asked you to..... because ......
you do not even know for certain which years you are teaching, if the days are not set, and the new person not in place.
You could be wasting your time learning nursery rhymes  and cat in the hat for the reception class, and end up doing the A' Level French Lit  component if the new teacher has not taught it before and has a major wobble.
    Too many variables....

Foxholes' post is so good, I'm quoting the whole of it - the bit of yours where you say "I expect I'll stay where I am, and do what I can, but without putting my heart and soul into it like I have done until now. I imagine I'll set up a plan of who teaches what units to what class, and then get on with it - cos the other teacher won't have a clue what to suggest...." is the contradiction I think Foxholes is addressing: setting up a plan **is** putting your heart and soul into it, given the way they're treating you.  Don't do it, please don't do it.  You have that email saying your hours are dependent on the other teacher.... do you have anything that's asking you set up a timetable of any sort?  Is that part of your job description?  Or are they just used to you doing it and covering up their lack of management and their numerous mistakes?

Begging you to step back, have a think and devote your summer to yourself and your family.  This is not your problem.  They've caused the problem, and they're used to you keeping things running but at the same time they're treating you like this.  Time to draw a line, seriously, you can't rescue this situation by endlessly giving - your family are the important ones, all of them.

I hope this last day is bearable - and that you can turn a corner over the summer holiday.  I know nothing about the situation in schools these days (I used to have 8 immediate family members who were teachers, but they're all retired now!) but I know that teachers, like others but often worse, are having to pick up the slack caused by greed, austerity, favouritism, all sorts of things in all sorts of places.  Please focus on the needs of yourself and your family.

I am now on holibobs. It was an absolutely fab morning with the tutor + tutor group that I had attached myself to. It was then marred by the 'staff finger buffet' having nothing I could eat with confidence, as there were open baguette slices, etc around the table. I did get told there was some vegan food though, so that's ok :s .I came home and ate here.
I have drafted my last email (for now) about the situation and I'll get dh's opinion later, with a view to sending it tomorrow.
Then it will be shelved for a bit while I'm away.

I get that all the time @apple_muncher , "no vegan cake but we do have gluten free" - that's great! I will go find a coeliac! :(
Was the vegan food a carrot stick by any chance? and a sad looking tomato :D  I hope they all get food poisoning.

Hello Apple. Got any wheelie chairs in your house?

I've discovered I can fix a dd2 meltdown by asking her to sit on my lap, promising not to whizz round and round, and then doing it anyway. She's 5'7"!

Have a look on your house insurance see if you have legal cover regarding the working days. You might not want school to get a solicitor's letter but it will s.h.i.t. them right up.

I can't bear it when people say, oh yes, some of those things are vegetarian or gluten free or both, but they don't know *which*.  Maddening!

First full day tomorrow - and you're off!  Have a wonderful time!

Happy Holidays!!  Don't let it live rent free in your head.  It is a future problem, deal with it then.
Easier said than done, but office hours resume in September.  Hugs.
