Indeed, karma. So many good people are turtles!
Dh has been buying from amzn. For my bike! A kick stand. And a handlebar extender thingy. He has also spray painted black the pannier from my old bike that does fit the new one, I'd just not looked at it properly. And the water bottle holder. And because he signed up to a week of prime for 99p, they then offered him £10 to spend on films. So we've bought Luca.
Have had a chat with dc re their room. I was asked if a friend could come and stay if they were kicked out - of course the answer is yes! And that led to a chat on reconfiguring the room to make that possible. Bunk beds instead of the current high bed (dc no longer uses the space underneath to play in anyway). A new chest of drawers as the current one has been there since they were born, and their clothes are bigger now and need more space. There's also a 4x4 1kea cube unit housing mostly syl fam stuff. And dc has agreed to me getting some clear stacker boxes to store as much of that in as poss, thus freeing up some cube space. I have stressed that this is now a 'clear out', as dc admits to being very attached to their things, as that is an easier attachment than emotional one. It is a re-design. And some stuff may go in the loft.  But that would need dh to remove some of whatever he has Tetris packed up there...!
And maybe there'll be a new carpet in the room too...

Oooh, another child on the way! :p  No, really that is lovely of you.  A million years ago, an ex-boyfriend 's mum did that for one of her eldest son's friends, and they set up their dining room as his bedroom, and he lived with them for about a year until he finished school and got a job and moved out.   I think it was a proper lifesaver for him.  It is good for 'the kid' to know they have a safe space to crash at.  Even a  single with a trundle bed underneath would work, if you did not know if it was going to be a permanent or an occasional thing.
Definitely to the new carpet, if you are decorating and moving stuff anyway. No point getting the room sorted, then having to move it all out to carpet, and move it all back in again.

So, we have stalled at the first hurdle. Alladin's Cave, that mecca of stacker boxes, only had the half height ones. Or ones the right height but 3" wider.  Or ones that would stick out the front by 6-9". Sigh. It really put the kibosh (sp?) on dc's motivation to get started. Double sigh.
But I did go to the gym for a lovely quiet session. Then to a quiet liddle where I managed to spend £56. Eek. Got a really good f+v box though :) And sainz also had some money off me, as did aldee for the bits that liddle don't have. A bin bag of school cardi/jumper/sweatshirt got handed to a ch shop and a bag of shoes went in the shoe bin.
Dh currently has amzn prime so I'm off to measure cubes and stackers and try to find some for him to buy.
Ooh, and we have watched the last 30 mins of Luca. Awesome film.

Is the film the Disney one or the "2019 Indian Malayalam-language drama film directed by Arun Bose and produced by Linto Thomas and Prince Hussain under the studio Stories & Thoughts Productions."?  My word!

And how sad that a child might be being kicked out of home :( I hope things work out for them, whichever path that means.

It was the Disney Pixar one, karma. And simply wonderful.
I agree with you re the child. I don't know how likely it is, but dc needed to know we'd have them.

I emptied 3 stacker boxes where I store my wool and fabric. 2 pink and 1 purple, so not the colours dc wants at all! But it meant that we got started on the job and they have done a good amount. And tomorrow we're off on a jaunt to charity furniture shops to see what we can spot.
I also managed to get dc to read through a whopping two of their last year's exercise books, in prep for returning to sch. Although they are back in the building on Thurs, lessons only start on Mon, which gives us a little more time...
I'm still umming and ahhing re cycling to sch on Weds. I need to be fit for conversation (and not smell too bad) by 8.30. The trip takes 35-40 mins. I need to carry everything I might need and the pannier rack ain't attached yet and there's no way I can carry it all in a rucksack and stay upright! This morning I was driving at 6.50am and it was pretty grey, not good visibility for cycling... Look at me! I'm already trying to talk myself out of it!!!!!

Oof, the cycling in the first week might be a bit much, apple - simply because of the amount of stuff you have to carry.  And using a rucksack etc on a bike can be really dangerous, tbh.

It looks like I'll have the car for tomorrow, but may choose to cycle on Thurs. It's still a training day, and I can take in everything I think I'll need on Weds. Including food. Lots of food!
I know that if I don't try and cycle in on a training day, I'll keep finding excuses for other days. So I am determined to do it!

Today has been rather spendy. Dc and I went out to ch furniture shops to look for a few things. The big one that I fully expected to have everything, had nowt. Absolutely nowt.
On the other hand, the small one had beautiful new bunk beds. So we bought one. £225. Gulp. But saved the £25 delivery fee by fitting it in the car. Go me.

And dh has nearly finished re-assembling a unit thingy a friend made for dc's wardrobe. Problem was that dh gave them the internal measurements of the cupboard. No account was taken of the door frame and door. Sigh. So it was impossible to get it in, other than squiffy. Very squiffy. Yesterday we trimmed it down and started rebuilding. Today, he has finished and is now giving it a lick of paint to cover all the scuffs and scratches.

And I have done some sch prep. Finally. Not finished though. Boo. But my Mondays are looking quite spiffing - y11, 12 + 13. A double each.

Oooph. That's the first day all done and dusted. And plenty to do to keep me out of mischief. It was a really positive start back, with the new management.
I am cycling in tomorrow. Dh has readied my bike, so it would be rude not to... I think my legs are aching already, in preparation!
Dc is back in sch too tomorrow.
I'll also go in on Fri, to meet with my colleague. She's being paid as supply, so isn't coming in tomorrow. I'll fill her in on what was said, and check she's ok for generally getting stuck in next week.
The turtle challenge this month talks about learning/resurrecting a new skill. But I think just getting back into a routine will be sufficient!
