    Quite a day!

Dd has ... Shingles! I don't even think she has had chicken pox! But at least it all makes sense now - the sharp pain, the itching, the general unwellness, the creams not 'working'. So now she has medicine, and will prob have a few days off school. I reckon she's had this simce last Weds, so the poor thing has suffered very stoically indeed.

Anyhow, NSD acquired but no workout - oops. Dh is staying off with dd tomorrow so I'll try to get one done in the morning. And I should be able tp get imto work earlier and get all marking and paperwork done.

  • Just catching up...... Dd has shingles?! That's so painful...the poor thing! I had shingles tracked across my back..and it was quite debilitating. Seem to remember I had a month of work at the time! Hope she managed plenty of r and r and gets better soon!
On another note, that's quite a fitness regime you have going on there! Brilliant! Making me tired just reading about it!
    Best wishes

Hiya hoit, yes, my dd is a stoic sometimes! Given that it started last Wednesday, I'm amazed at how she has coped. She's had today off with daddy, and I was planning to keep her off tomorrow too, to give the meds time to kick in more. This decision will be made once she allows me to change her vest, as she wants to go to school at the mo.

Anyhow, I got a workout in this morning - a simple one of 12x10/50: pike press + pike jump + jump squat; fore and back sandbag lunge - left; right.

I didn't get all the paperwork done, as I was teaching all day and had to use break and lunch for getting other stuff done. I did get started on it, have emailed it to myself thus far, so I can - hopefully - do it tomorrow.

Took another bag to the Sally Army, so another £2 to move to the mortgage; have another NSD; and hope to have done 10k steps and eaten 10 veg by bedtime.

Tomorrow: With or without dd, it'll have to include:
    -washing
    -washing up
    -bunnies
    -hearts
    -bags
    -aldee
    -THAT paperwork
-workout - a 'do it for time' one
    -sweep floor
    -tidy up!

Gosh you're certainly keeping busy A*M!

Well done on the cycling, hope for a long dry autumn for you, especially on Thursdays.

Poor little DD, my mum and niece both suffer with recurring shingles, not nice at all, bless her poor little buttons. Hope she feels better soon. I know you were hopeful for improved bedtimes, but not this way :(

Hope you both have a good day tomorrow. X

  • Thank you hbbb + hoit! I have kept dd off today - her back is soooo much better and much less painful. But her little body has had to work so hard to beat the bad bugs that she is still very tired.

So I am limiting what I try to get done today. Although the list wasn't too long to start with! Washing, food shop and prescription pick-up are the essentials. Ah, and THAT piece of analysis for work.

I've already done a workout - lunge climbers, plank jump thingys, windscreen wipers, crab kick ups - took me 16m36, which is a long workout for me!

Yes, Hbbb, fingers crossed for mild Thursdays! But not whilst cycling... As that would make changing gear a tad tricky.

We shall do the food shop soon - and go for an ice cream milkshake (dd) and coffee (me) in the local coffee shop. Gets us out and stops lots of moaning! (dd, not me!). Hair must first be brushed - gulp. Thank goodness for the tangle teaser.

  • Confession time. Local shops have 2 ch shops. We went in both. c

Cs1 yielded a Ra1nbow Magic jigsaw for £1.50 and a collection of Bu1ldabear clothes for £8.50. They usually retail for an obscene £5 per item or more, and there are 30 of them (just got dd to count them!)so we have bagged ourselves a mahooooosivebargain! :j:j:j

Cs2 was also forthcoming with a pair of jamas I'll have for Cmas, a dvd for dd for Cmas, a door hanger for dd for now, and some ribbon for my crafting - for 20p! All acquired for £5.20. A successful trip indeed.

In cs1 we also picked up some 50% off vouchers for a circus that's coming at the start of October!

Lunch has been lunched; dd is on her bouncy hopper maintaining a constant stream of chatter; I shall adjourn to my sewing machine - if allowed...

  • Yesterday dd had a read of 'the laminated book of tears' otherwise known as the arg0s catalogue. She found a dolly she really really wanted. Like she really really wanted lotso huggin bear 2 weeks ago!

I decided to check it online as the catalogue's out of date, and it was reduced from 20 to 12, but not many available. So then had to follow it through and reserve one, which I can pick upon Friday. Dd will be paying half towards it. Not a bad compromise! :D

Ahhh, the good old Argy catalogue! I remember those days with my boys! Great that you managed to track bargain dolly down and even better that DD is chipping in!

It's good that she's staying off for a bit, the overall (as in underneath) effects of the virus can be pretty awful (think of the spots as the tip of the iceberg), so plenty of R & R is definitely needed before a return to her school duties (I won't give you a scary story to illustrate, but trust me on this one, the virus responsible for chicken pox and shingles is a bit of a stinker on the sly). DD is lucky to have you doing all the right things by her, as much as she might want to get back to class!

Hugs to you both (and a little green eyed glance at the quality of your CSs compared to around here)! x

  • Ooph! Home once more!

Cycling went well - didn't get honked at and didn't go the wrong way either! Got back as fast as I could because dd didn't want to go home with neighbour - both mum and baby have the pox! So dd was elsewhere and I wanted to get her asap. A high rpm was achieved!

I managed to finish THAT paperwork today - deadline is tomorrow, so am happy.

Dd not only survived school, she had a great time there. She's excused from PE but it was expressive dance so she joined in anyway, in her uniform! I'll be keeping a very close eye on her, Hbbb, for any recurrence, or more long-term effects.

And some lovely news is that I got dh to write to the Property Management Company about the big sycamore tree that overhangs so much of our titchy tiny garden, possibly affecting the foundations... And definitely the apple trees and rasps. Anyhow, it has gone - yay!! :j. Now my garden can be thought about and planned for next year. :T it has been cut down to its various stump, so we must now put on the'stump killer' stuff we have, to ensure the job is finished off. Well done dh!
