Sounds like you're doing brilliantly A*M ... so glad the stall wares have mounted up and you are fully stocked :T Perhaps now's the time to start putting all your carrier bags by so that you have them handy for when people buy lots of bobbins (or make extra bags and sell 'em something to carry all their wares in)
It's good to see from your day off list that you're not spending your days off doing work prep ... this was an awful trap I fell into when I was P/T in school, ended up just being and unpaid work at home day!
Have a good one! xStash busting 2014 45 / 60 (balls of yarn)!

Thank you greent + habibiboo + MWC for posting :T!
Another clement day for cycling - warmer than last thurs but I was more dressed up for the chill, so got to work sweating buckets! There is a particular hill where I get off the back and take a footpath to walk a super steep bit. Today I couldn't get across the road to the path, due to an abundance of traffic, so I carried on up the main road, huffing and puffing all the way. When I came down the hill on my way home, I hit 28.6mph!
There seemed to be a distinct lack of traffic on the way back - made for pleasant riding.
My Garmin has now been switched to 'bike mode' so it now says my calorie expenditure was about 550 cal - not the 1000+ it was saying when it thought I was running the route. How did it think I ran so fast ? Wonder woman? :rotfl:
And that's my paid work finished for the week. Hbbb - I do try to get school work done at work, and really use that time intensively and efficiently. Doesn't work all the time, but is usually effective. Means I don't apend too much time sitting around in the staffroom, but after 12 years there, I know people, and they know where I'll be hiding! And I usually can scarper pretty quickly at the end of the day, especially a Thurs when I'm cycling.
So, to tomorrow:
- school run
- workout
- get present for lovely neighbour
- mooch for library books?
- sew on birdie and robin eyes
- stock take kitchen cupboards
- start on dd's advent calendar
- cull emails
- reply to work emails (sorry hbbb - justcouldn't get them done at work today)NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Hmmm. Am sure I wrote a post earlier on...
Took dd to school by herself as neighbour seriously overslept, which was a nice chatting time. I remembered to tske a book I'd promised one of the teachers, and dropped ampresent round to lovely neighbour.
Birdie eyes got done, and the robins I thought needed rrplacement eyes. Workout got done - involved sumo squat jumps, press ups, squat + pull up, scissor jump + low jack, 1-legged burpees and hanging knee raises. 3 rounds. Ooph indeedy!
I had an egg white left from making mayo a few days ago, so have turned that imto green christmas tree shaped peppermint creams.
I did some'climbing to be able to comtinue pruning the apple trees - ny using dd's climbing frame! But it wasn't emough for the corner tree so I had to climb the tree itself and balance myself whilst reaching and cutting - still with only secateurs. Lovely neighbour 3 doors up saw me and laughed, then lent me his saw. Amazing!! Got loads more done and plan to finish tomorrow, using the ladder this time. All 3 trees have had a rather severe trim, but we still seem to be far from frosty weather, so they should heal up before the cold weather arrives.
I'be also cut down most of the raspberry canes as there were precious few red offerings getting ripe.
(am spotting a load of typos here, but am on tablet, in the dark, holding it at an angle to disturb dd as little as poss. Editting is a pain as have no uppy or downy keys - cursor positioning depends on where my fimger lands on the screen!)
Saw an ad for a Dora dive and swim mermaid on tv, and looked up the price. On amaz0n, thry also showed a swimming D that dd had for Cmas ladt year. It,s now become a mini traditoon that she gets a mermaid in her stocking, and so far they have all been soirced fron ch shops. However, dd is hoping for the dive and swim ome, and it's ok, because it comes from Father Christmas, so we don't have to pay for it! Impeccable logic!
So today has been a staying at home day, and one I have thoroughly enjoyed. It's good to look out at the garden and see progress; it's good to look in the bag of items that need something doing to them, and see the pile diminishing.
Have just finished reading greent's diary from the start. 4 kids! Respect! Gazillions taken off the mortgage whilst juggling 4 kids, dh (with/out jobs), committees, holidays in the rain or whilst poorly. Total respect to you! :T:T:TNST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Why is it that on a day where she can sleep in - and so can we - then dd is awake and chirpy early???? Although I prefer that to having to drag her awake when she's just not ready for it.
So, we made it to tap AND ballet, and she decided that it had been worth going, after all. She still wants to give up tap, but they split the group into 2 and she was in the smaller group that went to practice for the exam, so she enjoyed that - it wasn't too noisy for her! Mid-November cannot come early enough for her to give it up!
Dh has 'bought' our tickets for legoland!!!!! It more or less wipes out our Tesc0 vouchers, but the tickets are the reason we saved the vouchers. We rarely shop in T - I never did, but dh used to have one very near his place of work. Now, dh has their credit card, which he uses to get the points.
Apple tree cuttings have been tidied up into a recyc bag - which dd has beeen delving into, to build a nest on the front grass. She has also decorated it with flowers and petals. Lucky birds!
Thumbelina is now on - and I have been charged with watching it too! Best start paying attention!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Have had two brainwaves today !
I've been mulling over how to present the table at the sch fair. Firstly I thought about using some of the apple tree twigs/branches. I've already trimmed them so they have fairly short offshoots, thus enabling me to hang many things on them. I shall also paint them.
Then I thought about using dd's 2' plastic Christmas tree too.
Feel quite a genius! But still need to think through how to get them to stay upright...!
No crafting done today. Nor exercise. But it has been a good day!
I shall be going over the food budget so must tot up how much was aldee vs how much was elsewhere. I know £23.23 went on coconut oil, and that's half a week's groceries!
Dh is also spending less. For lunch, he'll sometimes buy soup - but at 50p a go, that's nowt! I suggested I get him some normal rolls and he makes ham rolls and freezes then, so he can dunk them in his soup. I always take my own lunch and if I forget it then I have to go hungry! Has only happened once in many years - phew!
Tomorrow is church, colours wash (machine is playing up a bit), sew loops on 3 lavender bags, sew some bunny arms and legs, make soup for my lunches....NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
We did church - and dd and I took part in the lego bridge competition and came out of it with a kinder egg each. Not bad!
Washing has been done and mostly dried outside. It is now finishing off on the airer/bathrm radiator which warms up when the hot water goes on.
Dh asked what he could do (while his tea mashed, mind!) so I asked him to bag up the razed rasps and the ivy. And he did! All ready for Tuesday's green bag collection, we hope.
I have stuffed 4 hearts I found lying around - how careless of me! and 2 legs and arms.
Dd and I have emptied her 'play shed' (the space under the stairs where all her gubbins goes) as it was spilling out far into the lounge. Or rather, I emptied it, looked at what was on the shelves in there and re-arranged some of it, moved a little up to her room, and she played witht he box of dollies while I was occupied! The upshot is 1 pair of toy binoculars to give away, and a little more floor space.
I've not made soup, but have made coleslaw (onion, red cabbage, grated carrot, broccoli that was lamost on the turn, and hm mayo) yummy! Add a couple of hard boiled eggs and ham, and lunch for tomorrow is sorted.
Exercise has not been accomplished, but am somehow not bothered! We have had a good day together, dd has done 3/10 spellings and not stopped chattering away, and she read 40 pages of her school reading book at last night's playtime!
The Tilly Tidies are continuing, with a payment from MM today. Am now up to £285.91/£400, which is 71%. I could also pay over the Ch benefit, to gain another easy £82 and 20%.... And I somehow have over £600 in my account still :j. Reckon I'll make it then!
And will be able to afford my new glasses - I've put off going to sort them out even though they are needed as my right eye has changed for both the long and reading bits of the lens! Last time, they cost about £300 - eek! So I shall bite the bullet on Weds and go into town to organise this.
I could do with having a 'chat' with dh about 'things that need doing'. By my quick reckoning: car bearings; upstairs loo; back gdn fences; stair and landing carpet. And I'm sure he could add some more to the list!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -

Fill a plant pot with pebbles and stand them in that? Size of sticks will be deciding factor as to whether it's doable this way or not, I think?apple_muncher wrote: »

Same here! It annoys Mr Hbbb no end when it comes on in the summer whilst all the others are off, but I quite like having the indulgence of nice warm towels and a small spot to dry a few things on as needed!

Sounds like a lot of work for one pair of binoculars! :rotfl: it's fun when they rediscover forgotten toys though!

Dh has agreed with my to-do list. I think he didn't want to add any more to it!
Upstairs loo has needed doing for yonks. It has a crack in the pedestal bit, and I reckon that is responsible for the brown splodges on the dining room ceiling....
The stair + landing carpet is simply old and getting worn and threadbare.
The car is non-negotiable and is top of the list.
Hbbb - thank you for the suggestion for holding up the branches - will have a play with pots and weights soon. Not got pebbles so will have to be creative!
I know the sorting may have only yielded 1 item to leave the house, but it also gave us back a sleigh-sized piece of floor. As to why we have a sleigh in the lounge... Best ask dd about that!
Today started with 10 mins of burpees :j where I managed to do 54 :T. Go me!
Work was good and I set work for tomorrow. Dd has a dietician/nutritionist appt at 10.40, so neither of us are going to school first! I have sternly told dd NOT to wake up early...! Dh also has an appt at the same hospital, for his eyes. But his is at 9am, so he's going there on the bus! Hopefully he won't still be there when we arrive...
Spent some pennies today. Dd is adamant she wants a Lotso huggin bear from Toy Story 3. I have nevrr seen one in a ch shop - although I must admit that I haven't been looking. Anyhow, I still haven't seen one, but I did get dd 9 books for a grand total of £1.40 and a gorgeous pair of pink solid amkle boots for £1.50. Me? The lady in the first shop gave me the 2 cookie cutters for free! (they are a simpler star than the one I have, and a bell. Clay and cutters will feature heavily in a making session soon!)NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Another £82 paid over, so a total of £367.91/£400, or 91.97%. Go me!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0
