That's very balanced of you, apple, I hope it all goes smoothly, if not in a friendly manner.

Today, dd and I have been to see mum! We left the house at a civilized 7.50am and were back home by 5.25pm. So all the travel went super smoothly and we were able to catch an earlier train back which was wonderful.
Mum was ok. I think that wearing a face shield made me more unrecognisable than wearing my mask, as it changed how my hair sits on my head. But mum gets muddled anyway. And conversation about my dad turns quickly into talking about her own dad. It can be tricky to keep up!

The last day of the hols. Boo.
Dd is off to a friend's house and is staying there for lunch!!! She's not eating their food, but taking her own. However, doing the whole eating in front of/with other people is a big thing for her. I have managed to make a suitable cake, cooled it in the freezer, and got it iced in time to take it in a few mins. Phew.
Once she is dropped off, I'll go to the gym and sweat a lot.

Ooh, you're doing a whole Bake Off thing, putting a cake in the freezer so that you can ice it

Go me! I first remember doing it for my Home Ec O level mock where I'd planned a 7(!?!?!?!) tier cake!
Well, I went and got all sweaty at the gym, doing a hard session. It was great. So few people there, and for once, the music was off, which was just blissful. Shame I can't go regularly at that time, but I'll usually be at church.
I went in for a chat when I went to pick up dd, and we emerged 90 minutes later... Oops. Dd didn't mind, as they had extra time together. And we big people had a good ol' catch up.
I have finished making an elephant for our new dep head. She has a distinctive tread and wears impossibly high heels with ease. She herself said that she walks like an elephant, despite training in ballet to a rather high level. So I have made her a cute chubby dark pink elephant. And as I write this, dd is making it some clothing from a jeans trouser leg she cut off this week to make shorts. It gives me an excuse/a reason to go and see her tomorrow for another unofficial/off the record/unprofessional chatette 😆.
I'm the only one who has to get up early tomorrow as dd's school are closed to pupils so that staff can verify their TAGS. A most sensible approach.
I'm watching the Roland Garros, and it was just weird to see the spectators all file out at 8.40pm French time so as to get home before curfew! And the players are left with just the coaches, umpire, lines people and ball children.

I've not been sleeping brilliantly recently and, last night, dd came through and woke me up after about 10 mins of slumber. I saw her back to her bed and we talked through why she'd got up. Then I stayed awake for nigh on 2 hours. Sigh. With a load of 'things to do' vying for attention in my head. I wasn't awake enough to dismiss them, nor too sleepy to get to sleep...
So I vowed to spend a bit of time writing down as many of them as I could think of once I got up.( awake from about a hour before the alarm was set tog o off, of course...) It was a fair ol' list!
And I have got through most of it - phew. Including some extras!

I find a pre-emptive list of huge value - hope you don't feel too sleepy today (or DD, for that matter).

I slept really well last night and only woke up at 5.37. And got up at 5.55. Progress!
Used lots of lists at work to get things done, as I had time today. I also just got on and did a few other tasks, rather than add them to the list for another day. I'll have some 'spare' time tomorrow too, but will have to seek out a room to work in, which means getting less tidying/recyc/sorting done. But I hope that today's momentum will continue until the jobs are all done...
A sweet pea seed self seeded last year and now has a few flowers on it, and they don't half smell gorgeous!

I am so pleased with the footwear I bought myself for my birthday last month. I live in both the sandals and the trainers. Tho obviously not at the same time....
I had a good sesh at the gym today, which ended up meaning 150 kettlebell swings and 50 burpees of different incarnations. Plus some treadmill walking at 12% gradient. I was so sweaty and red-faced afterwards, despite the gym having it's aircon on nice and low!
Tomorrow, I'll be taking dd to school in the car as I have to nip to work (opposite direction, bien sûr) to pick up my planner and notebook. I wrote a really useful list of tasks for the next three days. Then left it at work. D'oh. Then I'll drop off a bday present on my way back. Followed by another gym sesh (aimed at arms this time) before hitting liddle with my tomato-like complexion.
And after that, I can start on the list. Yay!
Am loving the Roland Garros. Such great tennis is being played.
Also tomorrow, I need to do laundry, plant some seeds, do a little poppy weeding...

I had thought that I'd be home by about 10 or 10.30 this morning. Oh how wrong I was!!!! But everything got done and, most importantly, I have my list + my planner, and plenty of fresh fruit and veg. (and a few liddle bargains B) )
The notebook's list isn't as gruesome as I'd been thinking it might be... So I will crack on with that for an hour, and see how much I can get done. I recorded the Leeds triathlon (yikes - a 5 hour recording!!!), so that can keep me company. Dh is off out in about 30 mins and dd may call to be picked up around 3.45/4 ish. So the house will soon be mine, all mine...
