About 8 years ago, dd was diagnosed as coeliac. It took 2years and a rocket put under them from her consultant for a dietician to see us. None of the meetings have been much use. We both come away from the appointments feeling guilty for not doing it right.

So I had a chat with dd today. She agrees that our dietician ain't much use to us.

So I'm going to contact her consultant and ask for another dietician. Preferably one that will understand dd and help her to learn/ figure out why she eats as she does. Basically, do a bit more psychological stuff.

And dd also agrees with me doing this.

Well they say that a counsellor who does not have a 'connection'  with a patient will never be offended if their client says they are going to try with someone else, if they feel there is a barrier there.  I would hope that the dietician would be as professional.

You should never walk away from an appointment feeling guilty - that is not going to help anyone or make dd more open to new experiences. Try with someone else.

DD's consultant sounds great!  And the psychological part of coeliac disease has got to be as important as any other part of it.  Brilliant that DD's agreed for you to take it forward, doing it without her permission would lead to a lot of other stuff ... nice one, apple

My TAGS are all  done.  Challenge me all you like. I can justify every grade 😎

I'm going in to work tomorrow - shock horror!- to interview someone who may replace my wonderful colleague and friend who is leaving. I asked to be involved in the process, as I'll be the one working with whoever we end up with. The person has to be independent and someone I can work with easily. We have no HOD so they must be able to do what they're supposed to, without needing constant reassurance or checking...

Otherwise, my half term would already have started...

But I'm going to the gym 🏋️ first thing tomorrow, which will certainly feel like a non-school day .

Today's candidate wasn't what I wanted at all. For many reasons. For some reason, my head seems not to want to advertise??? Want to go through a supply agency. And offer the job for 1 or 2 terms and then advertise to start next April ???? She even mentioned I might have to change my days or give up some of the A level teaching... Sigh.

Do you think they might be more interested in a  newly (newish) qualified teacher to keep the budget cost down?  Or maybe they want you for the job.....

Thanks both. I have prepared an email saying what I think, but will send it in a day or two so that I can read over it again calmly.

But for now, it is half term. I have been paid. Dd had an eventful day but has declared it a good one. She is currently at youth and dh has gone to collect her.

Today I let dd cut my hair and I am well happy with the result 😎. And she is rightly proud of it too 😎

I now have a pile of hair to use to keep the slugs and snails away...

I have started tidying up. Shock, horror!  My needle felting has been sorted and squished into the allocated space. And I have discarded a few items of clothing and footwear.

Time for a little sit down, methinks!!
