Years ago I ate in The Rubicon in York. Think it was a vegan place? And I had grated swede there and was surprised how absolutely yummy it was. It has prob taken me until now for the memory and the purchase of a swede to coincide!

Oooh, not had grated swede yet. Have done kohlrabi, and celeriac in coleslaw, but not swede. Will have to have a go at that.  My kids hate swede (Weirdos!)

My coleslaw has carrot, onion, swede, cabbage, sultana, apple, chickpea, acv + evoo. Sometimes there is broccoli or cauliflower in there too. Chop up once, divvy in to pots and eat for the next 2 or 3 days with some yummy protein source. My fibre intake is awesome 😎.

So it is the weekend and I had a lie in until ... 7am!
A day off from Chloe Ting, but I didn't feel like a run, so I did an old Men's Fitness workout. Go me!
Then I visited Liddle and raided the reduced section, which contained things we'll actually eat, for once. The only downside was that 4 items were't scanned as reduced but I only noticed once I was home. Boo.  So they upped the bill by about £3. But dh has taken photos and will contact customer services...
Now dh is researching gizmos that will read and scan negatives + slides and save them, as liddle will have one for sale soon, but it has a rubbish 5 gig camera so now we have been given the impetus to start on my dad's gazillion slides, it would be good to see it through...

That's good about updating the slides and whatnot, apple - can't update things every time there's new tech on the scene, but sooner or later it's crucial.  I scanned in my older family photos as soon as I could, then read about condensing the images - I didn't check what effect that had on the image as you opened it up, and I'm left with a lot that are barely recognisable!  Good luck on the research for it.

I have found that liddle have the choc covered rice cakes - DARK CHOC of course, cheaper than elsewhere. But I have bought a pack of 'normal' rice cakes and will melt some choc myself, pour it onto a saucer lined with doing film/greaseproof paper, and dip (splat?!) the plain rice cakes in it to cover one side. And the clingfilm will mean that no choc goes to waste!!! Worth a try...  And if it works, then it'll be much cheaper!
Dd is currently designing her Thank You cards for her bday last week (still writing some cmas ones too!) and enjoying bringing her design ideas into life.

I have the slides that I identified as having family on them. Big sis wouldn't let me bin any of the hundreds and hundreds of others as she wanted to look at them herself... I IDed the ones to keep by using my phone as a backlight. But big sis couldn't see them well enough for that, so I'm guessing she's not been able to look at any of them yet...4 years on... But if we get a clever gizmo, she can send them all to me and then she can see the resulting images.... Priority must be the ones I have. Only once they have worked successfully will I ask her for the others.
The liddle one costs £25, but as dh says, it's better to pay double that and get a good quality result.

Dd is out in the snow! A neighbour called round for her, which  was lovely. Usually they would climb a tree, but I can't see them doing that today...
Mr Hancock has mentioned that infection numbers will determine whether schools return after Easter. Hang on, just a cotton pickin' moment... First I've heard of that... Maybe I missed that...

Yes, I saw that Mr Hancock said that. Not really a surprise - but I think it's the first real indication someone from the govt has said that the lockdown is continuing past 12th Feb... sigh.... I do hope that when restrictions are eased that schools are prioritised ahead of restaurants and pubs. I know that means jobs/ livelihoods/ businesses are at more risk of disappearing, though. But there is no *perfect* solution to this situation we are in :(

So, teachers are not majorly more at risk than some other professions. True. Absolutely. But please don't base that on data collected over a period of time when schools were mostly closed....

I have had a lovely teaching day today with many lovely parts to it.
Dd has had a day off, poorly! Poor thing must have simply overdone it, esp yesterday when I think she got very chilled down, twice. She spent several hours yesterday evening feeling super cold but also super hot; she has been pale and quite feeble and weak today, and I may even keep her 'off school' again tomorrow...
