Another lovely day at work. Adorable y11s; a new joiner in the y12 group (eek - a term of work to catch up on, and not having done French since March as y11s didn't really need to bother then); various good meetings with people; dry weather for my outside lunch duty; a silent engrossed y9 class as they watched a film (yep, it is a mighty good film!).I sent out a few emails to parents about how well their lovely y9 child is doing, and had some great responses.Got home and dd has had to cry off swimming this week, so that meant I didn't go to the gym - fine by me! Instead, I'll go tomorrow after work, as I finish at 1.Sorted a few small gifts for people at work - £9 spent on choc bars at aldee, then divvied up and tied with string
. I'll add a little label + note to them tomorrow. Along with one of my bunnies and some narcissi I planted in pots a few weeks ago, that makes 8 gifts for about £12 or £13.

That's very good on the DIY gifting, well done you
Staggered at the kettlebelling :do have a halo

Claiming another halo
. Back to the gym after work (ie 1.30ish) and used the 12k kettlebell for much overhead work that I'd not normally use it for - snatches, clean+ press. The 8k one had gone walkabout, so it was 12 or 6. And 6 is puny!!!
I have some extra work tomorrow - only 1/2 a day (perfect), and teaching y11 + 12 French (even perfecter), and only starting 2nd lesson, until lunch (perfectest ever).NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!1 -
Darn it.Dd's school are going to home learning as from Monday. She is not happy! It is purely precautionary, but given that numbers here are swooping upwards, the school wanted to ensure people could remain covid-free before traveling for Cmas. We're not going anywhere, so dd doesn't see why other people would want to...We'll see what my school think...And word is that all 11-18 year olds should go and get tested in certain areas - but what about the staff?????We'll see what tomorrow brings...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!2

Numbers seem to be going up everywhere
poor DD. By the way, I'm still very impressed with your kettlebelling

I have done my extra 1/2 day, and the teaching was a delight. I snaffled 3 big cookies from the staff room for the y12s, which was appreciated.Dd was twitchy going in to school, due to everything changing and finishing seeing friends today. However, the skateboarding meet-up is still going ahead on Sunday, which is brill, as she'll see her best friend. I shall go and meet her with the car later. Her Sat dance classes have been cancelled due to a covid positive. A shame, but at least she now has nowhere to go on Sat! I may take her round some charity shops...Although we have only had the 1 positive case, my sch is going to 'optional' in-person schooling next week. Obviously, the kids are expected to join in on Teams, or do work sent by email. But since we won't know until the last minute who is coming in and who is staying at home, it could well be rather chaotic!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!2

It was lovely to have a day with no obligations today.I was woken at 6.22. By my bladder. Sigh. But I only got up properly abut half an hour later. Then I pottered for a while, brewing coffee and drinking some of it before going out for a run for about 2 miles.Dd and I took a bag to the Sally Army and had a wander round a few ch shops. Dd got some books and a gorgeous hat; I got her some faith in nature conditioner, some spiky massage balls for me for cmas, and a leather(ish) teenager jacket for her friend's bday tomorrow. We also went to c00k to buy some gf brownie (2 actually!) and a gift card to say thank you to a lovely friend. Then dd had had enough - just too many people around and it panicked her. Not because of covid; just that the number of bodies was overwhelming. So we came home and did Christmassy stuff.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!2

I'm constantly amazed that you manage to get out so regularly, its a real dose of normality.2023: the year I get to buy a car2

Karma - we do get out, but it really is to the same, limited, number of places! To our schools, church, the gym (which only opened last Jan, so has excellent air con + removal and replacement of air, rather than re-circulating it), about 3 supermarkets and a few ch shops. Always wearing a mask, keeping a safe distance, not loitering, sanitising hands in shops, washing hands on arrival home. So far, so good!

I've a feeling we are at the opposite end of the country to you and schools closing here too. Home learning for dd's high school as of Monday and many primaries are closing on Wednesday. Think we are facing some tight restrictions after Christmas too. I'm just hoping dd embraces home learning!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!3
