It is a very deep topic. She is asking me questions about events from the last 60+ years and I often just have to admit that I only know a simplified bit of info. However, she is hoping to finish early, which would be a huge boost.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!3

"Schools should not request evidence of negative test results or other medical evidence before admitting children or welcoming them back after a period of self-isolation."So says govt advice. I'm not sure that I agree with this...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!2

"Schools should work with partners to consider staggered start times to enable more journeys to take place outside of peak hours. "You'd either have to start them at 7am or after 10.30 then, where I work...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!2

Let me cherry pick a few bits from my reading of the Guidance for full opening - schools"Teach an ambitious and broad curriculum in all subjects from the start of the autumn term, but make use of existing flexibilities to create time to cover the most important missed content."What flexibilities are those???Yet further down:"Aim to return to the school’s normal curriculum in all subjects by summer term 2021."Also, aren't we lucky that:"routine Ofsted inspections will remain suspended for the autumn term. "And:"Performance tables are suspended for the 2019 to 2020 academic year, and no school or college will be judged on data based on exams and assessments from 2020."It is admitted that there will be behaviour issues but no suggestion at giving school time to effectively help those pupils. NO, they have to get back to their ambitious curriculum...And suspending performance tables for 1 year, eh? Cos this has only affected schools and pupils for 1 year...I am so blessed to have been able to maintain my teaching throughout the last 3 months. To have given the pupils what they should have had (mostly - I can always 'do better'). I do not anticipate a huge change in behaviour in Sept. Cos I am in a really nice school.Sigh.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!5

But back to nicer things - karma, yes just a few hundred squid left to pay.
But we are not paying it yet as we need to look at ERCs.. And since it is offset, we ain't paying interest on it anyways... It is a very nice position to be in. And it is the reason I started my diary. Maybe I don't want to pay it off as then I'd have no reason/excuse for keeping the diary going...
But inthe end, I'd probably just keep going as this is about so much more than jsut money...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!4 -
Totally! And/ but, erm, you can pay it off and keep the diary going - thats what I did, and nobody threw me outI don't envy you that "guidance" - they're just throwing out phrases that sound good, in complete isolation from one another ...2023: the year I get to buy a car4

Chloe Ting has kicked my butt this morning. I loved it! Most of her workouts are bodyweight, equipment-free, but I came across one that uses dumbells. So I used my 12k kettlebell for sumo squats, romanian deadlifts, curtsey lunges into side lunges, and hip thrusts. Then 3k for side leg lifts and 6k for jump squats and step ups with rev leg lift. 15 secs under 30mins. Ooph.Tomorrow I start her most recent programme...And go in to work for an hour...The shower has stopped showering. The washing machine is doing funny things with the water inlet letting waer in and stopping and starting the whooshing. However, the fridge/freezer is ok after we realised the light was on 24/7 and mended that. Dh + I have 'painted' (ie slapped a couple of coats of light paint as far as we could reach) inside the airing cupboard and he has adapted 2 of the 4 shelves we need so we may soon get the stuff back in there... well, soonish...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!3

Do keep posting, Apple. It's great to hear from those like you and Karma who are MF (also sympathies on the guidance - I teach in HE and universities still seem to be pretending we'll be back on campus in the autumn and teaching online and in person at the same time
