Happy news - dd has been offered a place at the posh school up the road, with a rather humungous bursary added on for good measure.
All feeling very over the moon here in the apple household :j
Congratulations! That's wonderful news :j especially that you haven't also added loads of travel time for her, the icing on the cake.
Have just ordered the berry plants on offer via the email. Happy! Some I'll use myself, and others I'll gift.
Another bit of my tax rebate spent!
I'd better have a look at the email, I'm out of the habit :o

But happy days in the Apple household

Thank you! A short 'commute' is great! She was wanting to attend my sch, but as I'm part-time, there'd have been days where she was on the buses and we were looking at maybe 90 mins each way. Yikes! It's not far, it is just v awkward. I see kids on the trams at 7.15am - there are plenty of kids who do an awful lot of travelling.

As it is, she can walk or get the bus with a friend who is already there.

Inthe hour after dropping dd at sch, I caught up with a friend a sshe gave me a lift in her car, got a few essentials (85% choc!) from aldee, posted back a top to azda, spent £16 in icyland to use up my £2 voucher, dropped dd's shoes in the shoe bin, got £££ out, paid some money into dd's savings, went to sainz fo gfdf bread +nuggets, and got the bus home. Ooph.

Dh is going out v shortly and I am considering cadging a lift, to drop off the 3 sally army bags we've had ready for a while. Don't want to go out in the sleet again, but am thinking that it'd be a really good thing to do...

Three bags cluttering the hall for the weekend ... yep, if you can cope with going out again, go for it :)

The bags (of which there were 2,not 3, silly typo!) weren't even in the hallway, as that is where dd's bike is! Anyhow, dh dropped me off and I dropped the bags off, and had a lovely mooch around the ch shops. 4 on fabric (oops), 3 on gifts, 3 on housey stuff and 50p on a lovely book of knitted animal scarf/mitt/socks that I've seen before and liked several of the creations.

I have a super simple sock pattern that doesn't require any fancy needles or stitches and can see how to adapt the book ideas with the existing pattern. Yay! :T

Had a lovely phone call from the posh school's Head, to check that we'd had the letters (dd also got one - how lovely is that?!) and to congratulate dd on her bursary, as they are super hard to get, and she had done extremely well. :D

I need to get out for a run tomorrow morning if I am to manage 28 miles in feb... Better get my kit ready... Dd still wants to accompany me on her bike...

Thanks greent :D. We still cannot quite believe that dd is going to the posh school!!!!!!!!!!!! Note to self - send the paperwork to accept the place!

Been out and about today. Dd wanted to look at HP stationery in tesc0, so off we all toddled, followed by a good ol' mooch in the ch shops there. Once again, not much spent. Socks for dd in tesc0 as her sch ones really are rather manky, grey-streaked, and short on her. She bought herself a cartridge pen.

We took another bag to the SA and used £4 of credit in there - a much-needed belt for me, a dvd for dh and some cool green pumps for dd. I also found more running leggings for £1.50 and reduced cmas cards for £1.10.

Not much spent, but I have been in so many shops over the last 2 days that I need a break from them for a few days.

Our recorder said that it was recording yesterday's rugby. BUT IT LIED. Luckily, my lovely dh was able to cast chrome it for me. Yay! And I am now watching the Ireland v England match with the other one safely recorded for later.

Dd and I went out for a run too this afternoon, after she did her dance exam. She told me that she was surprised at how fast I was able to run, bless her. We did a fairly flat 2.2 miles - she cycled. If I can sustain that pace for a lot longer, I'll complete a marathon in 5h20 :D.

Another v gd session with my counsellor today. I can tell things have shifted as I'm more forward looking and planning things to look forward to. All good stuff.

Got 4l milk for the foodbank.

Ran a different route back from the counsellor's - v glad for having the maps on my phone as it was a wiggly route. It was still about the same distance and I still ended up the same shade of tomato-face. Got some gf/df bits from sainz.

Cracked on with my knitting after lunch. I have finished 2 big socks and 1 shorter one. The 2nd shorter one is underway and I am hoping there'll be enough woolleft for a mini pair. Then step dd + sil + dgs can have matching presents!

Had a quick look in aldee at this week's wool. But no orange or rich brown. Might have another look another day, once I've decided which animal mitts/socks I definitely want to make.

    Enough wittering.

Amazing news about dd get into the posh school and what a bonus the bursary is. I like the February challenge ideas too, will be trying some of those especially knocking £40 off the food bill as our spends have really shot up recently.
