We want to go to Fredericksberg (sp?) As that is where dh's mum's care home is, and it seems to have a fair amount of stuff to do. We're not great sight-seers and prefer to potter and do local things. Also, the travelling wipes both dd and I out - last time, it took me nearly 3 days to recover from the descent on the plane . So we want to fly direct this time if we can.

That looks a great place to potter - sympathies on the travel, I flew out to the Spanish cruise last year, but it was an effort.

And now I can proudly announce that dd has moved up a stage in her swim lessons :T, after just 3 classes! She is quite rightly chuffed to bits :D. The next stage is quite a bit tougher, but it is run by the same teacher, so she already knows dd.

I had my second dose of exercise, as I swam up and down while she had her lesson - but only did about 20 lengths this time.

Another sugar and grain free day has been had :D.

Nipping back to say that dh has bought our flights to texas :j. We had the option to pay only the deposit of £300 until March 4 (We're going early April). After our Australia shenanigans, we opted to do so! Got a cheap deal on car hire thrown in.

Also had passing conversations about the windows (dh suggested we get a few quotes!) and the kitchen, and the bedrooms (reckon dd will not be happy with the diddy room soon and will prob want to move into the larger spare room), and the roof and the fence. Nowt definite, but we are agreed in principle... :D

Currently thinking through my visit to bham tomorrow. Weather doesn't look too bad, and the flat has a thermostat and duvets to snuggle down with. And internet :D.

Won't get to mum until late afternoon as I'm working until noon then have to get home, change, pack and get dh to drop me at the station. Then it's train, walk, train, train, walk to care home.

After seeing mum for a bit, I want to get to the 'local' (about 1+ miles from the flat, so 2.5m from the care home!) azda to look for some clothing for mum and my tea+ bfast, visit an old friend, eat my tea and then settle in the flat.

    I'd like to get a 200 rep w/o done...

And Fri morn = bfast, see mum, come home.

Normally, I'd go round the ch shops. But I have no inclination to spend at the mo. And I'd only have to carry it home ...

    Enough wittering!

I hope all that travel goes smoothly, apple, when its several trains, I do wonder about the knock on effect of one going wrong. Pah, that won't happen tomorrow!

Good luck with it all, enjoy seeing your mum.

I'm not so bothered by it on the way up, karma, as the trains are all between every 10-20 mins. It's on the way back, when all I want to do is get home that it matters...

Well, I made it to brum. I caught my first train at 1ish and was with mum by about 4pm. I had a seat on every train and it all went smoothly. I have my own little routines and things I do on the journey - it's a different thing on each train!

I opted out of going the extra few miles to and from azda and just got my food from sainz near the care home. I have also been out again tonight to buy some balm tissues as I have become v sneezy and snotty. Again. Sigh.

The care assistant who let me out talked to me by name - I think she is the only one who remembers it. It made me feel really good. And mum was mellow, which was lovely. She was wearing a beautiful hand-knitted quite intricately-patterned jumper that looked great on her. Defo not hers tho! Maybe I should have whipped it off her and sewn her name in it... :rotfl:. Finders keepers, and all that.

Looked in 3 ch shops, but nothing appealed at all.

Gosh, but I'm ready for bed!
