Happy New Year! May it be a year of health, wealth and a life well-lived for us all.

Next door had a party last night. I'm so glad that dd got off quite quickly as they were going until after 1am. I suggested to dh at 8.15 that we start mending the fence or some other hammering job. But decided that we'd only end up disturbing everyone else who was disturbed by the party, as next door could sleep through an explosion!

So, we are all quiet instead.

I have marzipanned and iced our 12th night cake.

Off to get dressed at 10 and start some 20/20 things: 20 mins sch prep then 20 mins crafting.

Must get out and about for some fresh air and steps. Did 10 mins of shoulder exercises this morning, coupled with squats/lunges. And my heart was racing and I was overly sweaty for such light exertion. Want to shift this cold...

  • I feel you, AM. We have some periodically noisy neighbours over the fence so counting our blessings that last night was not one of their big ones. They're just horrible too. Once it was really late and they were so noisy DD was in tears because she couldn't sleep. OH asked them nicely just to turn it down a little for the kid and they laughed in her face and turned it up :(

Sounds like you're off to a flying start in 2019!
    Choose kind:)

We all went for a walk up to the woods, and dd took her bike and did plenty of cycling. It wasn't a long walk as I was rather pathetic, but we broke 2 miles. Dd has since done more cycling - dropping off another thank you card locally, then round and round the green in front of the house.

I have done 1 thing from my January frogs list. And a shed load of sch work - 2 more year groups planned for the half term, 1 left to do.

Binge watched WSM on back-to-back episodes, followed by the final. Shame it is all over for another year...

Big sis is coming to stay tomorrow for a few nights as she visits her MIL and friends down here. And my niece may come down on Fri. Haven't told dd yet, in case she can't make it...

The car is still not working, so I may be walking a lot soon...

We have very nearly completed some important paperwork. Phew. Will be so pleased to get it posted off.

We had another middle-of-the-night call from MIL around 2?am, as she pressed the wrong button on her phone. She is registered blind now, so it is understandable. However, it's a right pain - it's always around that time, as she is about 6 or 7 hours behind us in TX. She was the first to wish us a Happy New Year though :rotfl:.

Dd and I went out and about on the buses today. 1 bag to the SA. Mango bought from liddle. Sch trousers returned to sainz but not replaced as no bigger sizes in store. Visited a knitty/sewy/crafty shop and bought nowt. Then we hit the ch shops...

    Jeans for me £1
    Thin socks for me £3
    notebk for me £0.75
    gilet for dd £2.50
    tin for mum £1
    books for gs £1.88
    tea towel for niece £1.50
    And c0sta cost us £2.70.

The 'buying for me' account is currently £2.75 in the red!

Dd is still going around barefoot and got plenty of 'looks' today as it was rather nippy out.

    3/31 frogs swallowed so far.

Dh has somehow mended the car :T. By removing all the fuses and putting them back. He'll be out in it tomorrow so I'll know whether it'll be ok for going to work on Fri...

I finally took some photos today. Phew. Am started on that at last.

The car is still working - phew!

Dd cycled up to Sainz as we'd forgotten to buy her some toothpaste yesterday. (I walked, may I say!) No bike lock meant that I stayed with the bike and she went in and bought it all by herself. She was well chuffed. About 2+ miles of riding. Followed by going round the green while I prepped her lunch. She was rahter frozen when she eventually came in.

I have just finished my sch prep for the next half term. Ooph. Am very glad to have it all ready, nowt pending. Or should I say: nowt pending that I am aware of...

Today's 30 mins of exercise is the walking to and from sainz. My cold has become another sinus infection, though nowhere near as severe as the last one, nor as colourful in the snot department... Just enfeebling and balm-tissue-devouring.

Ah well, back to work tomorrow, so can go and share the lurve...

Frogs are those pesky tasks that you put off because you don't want to do them even though you know that doing them will make you feel better.

20/20 has stumped me! Where did I write that?

Can't quite believe that I have to go to work tomorrow. Ugh.

    Happy new year!

I've just caught up with your thread. Hope you are not feeling too rough and well done to DD on mastering the bike and well done to DH for fixing the car.

The 20/20 was 20 minutes school work, 20 minutes crafting I think, saves you scrolling back again.;)

Thank you XSpender! I set a timer for 20mins and do something I don't really like for 20mins, followed by 20 mins of crafting/reading... Except that it didn't work at all this time with sch prep as I needed to focus for about 60 mins at a time! It did work in the summer when my hands were bad and I needed to do lots of digging - it meant that the garden jobs got done and my hands remained useable.
