Now that we are doing 'other things' with the money in our offset, we are no longer mortgage neutral. We are having to pay interest. Last month it was 57p. And that bugs me! Having done some addition, I reckon we have a discrepancy/shortfall of £2887. At least the bank might stop writing to us to suggest we do something with our money...

We are also pondering whether to jump through the hoops to buy the leasehold on mum's house, as it is down to the early 70s. Yet, given that it is most likely to be a cash buyer, the length of the lease is immaterial... The estate agents did not think it would make a blind bit of difference to whether it sold or not... But what do they really know...

My last day of work before half term. There is so much to tidy up that I may even go in one day in the hols. Gasp.

But then again, I may not...

We went to bham last sat and have just returned. All tired out. It was a busy but good time. I visited mum 3 times and we had plenty of laughs - something that has been lacking for the last 15 months, and possibly a factor in my anxiety and reluctance to go and see her. These visits have put things onto a more even keel for me.

We also had a good mooch around various charity shop and other cheap shops. A beautiful skirt for dd with deep patch pockets for £2; a 'how-to' drawing book on a style of art dd loves (the name of the style currently eludes me!) for another £2; a pair of trousers for work (that fit me now, not at some vague thinner future date) and a smart top for parents evenings (according to dd) for 50p (used £6 credit); 5 packs of felt from the w0rks for £10; a H Potter triv pursuits thing for dd for cmas £7; a stargazing book for a stargazing friend for £3; and about £4 on other bits.

And we still have loads of the half term left!

Can't believe the week with dd is over! It has been a good week together as a family. Lots of chilling out time, good sleep, out and about locally.

And we still have 2 more days:j.

I have done no school work - but I do get two weeks off, so I have scheduled all that sort of malarkey for Monday when dd is back to school and dh is out all day. It would be great to get it all done that day...

    Did Shred level 1 today.

Currently have 14 bunnies at various stages of preparation.

Chatted with dh about what we might do with the money from selling mum's house. Dd offered me £2 today, to pay towards the mortgage (I took it, of course :rotfl:). She is most excited about us being able to clear the mortgage when we sell the house.

A day consuming some slimy frogs.

Both dh and I were brave and went shopping on a Sat. Separately. Me to drop off some clothes at the ch shop and then 'do' icyland, spending over £9 to start to qualify for a free fiver. I spent 9.78. Dh to aldee to get our required fireworks (required according to dd!) and then on to sainz to spend 40 to get £4 off. Dh spent 40.15.

This afternoon, I finally took myself out to try to tame the garden. Tis only a litle garden, but doing nowt in it for 18 months - bar mowing - means that it thinks it can take over. I cut down all the rasp canes (they grow like coppiced trees - prolifically!) and dug some roots up. Dh came out and manfully used the loppers (I no longer have enough hand strength, sigh) to severely cut back the apple trees. Then he got going on the ivy. And that is an ongoing job.

We have a large mass of garden waste now, and need a plan to deal with it. The council changed their garden waste collection to a paying one, so we didn't sign up for it. We have no car so cannot take it to the tip. We could borrow a friend + car to visit the tip. Or ask friends who are organising a bonfire if it could be burned there....

I have signed up to November's NST challenge, so am planning next month.

    17 NSDs - never aimed for 17 before :D
    12 days at work - so 18 not :T
    12 proper exercise sessions
    4? Counselling sessions
    4 dance sessions
    3+ daily gratitues
    2 craft events - sooo excited :j
    1 bonfire
    1 parents eve for dd
    1 smear for me
    1 kids klub
    1 dentist
1 visit to super posh school
    1 governor meeting

Well done for tackling the garden feels so good to get it done, although mine also feels ongoing always, but I love it.

November plan sounds good. The visit to posh School, something for dd?
