Week 3/12 update:
Health: toes are doing well; hands have been achey (poss due to cutting out, knitting...); plenty of exercise done; back on the no-added-sugar waggon; some headspace done; the plan for this time with mum seems to be working; currently fighting a sore throat and snot. Squats done.
Wealth: very few nsds acquired, due to the holiday - oops; otherwise, sensible spends; got autoaid despite not having a car - it may seem like madness but there was the possibility of driving mum's car back to our place with the possibility of it not getting there so we wanted to be covered! Trying to use the library for dd's books - she can get several from ch shops and finish them in one afternon, which is a waste of our pennies.
Life well lived: getting outside and having such lovely weather has been beneficial. Being here for big sis does me good as I feel useful!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
St Anthony's help is required again.
Mum has 'lost' a ring she got from her mum. It's been a few days now and we simply cannot find it.
She cannot rest, is constantly getting up and rootling through things, searching.
Help!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Have you tried a pendulum? Never worked for me but I have a friend who is certain it is the answer to lost items.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Still not found it. Sigh. It is in the house, but where is obviously a mystery...
Mum will be out of the house this afternoon - a rare occurence, so I'm going in to a) wash her bed linen,towels... b) clean the kitchen c) go through all her items of clothing and check pockets d) wash her clothes.
Don't think that I'll get on to d) as realistically, I'll only have about 2 hours before having to go and meet dd and dh off the train. And I don't know when/if big sis will want/need me to take over from her for a while.
Today will be a spendy day as I have finished reading my book: My grandmother sends her regards and apologises, by Fredrik Backman - a great read. So I'll nip to the ch shop to find another.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Is it loose, could it have slipped off?
Say "ring ring ring".0 -
Day 2 of 'mother in residential care' complete. Phew.
Still not found that ring, but I did find the missing address book.
Dh is being his usual awesome self and spent a couple of hours with mum. Dd was amazing when she went to see her, so loving and fun.
Overall, a lot fewer bouts of crying, although I am sure that that will ebb and flow.
Big sis is back home for a few days, to try to relax and chill out.
Lots of washing done, so that whichever clothes go in, they are clean and named. Still lots to do though.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Hope the ring turns up, glad the residential care is going well.

Utterly drained. Have been good for not much at all (can't in all honesty say 'nothing' as I've not quite been that bad) since seeing mum today.
She is settling in as well as can be expected, has 'made a good impression' on the staff there, tells them how wonderful the place is, yet is completely miserable when with me and nothing I say is any use/good. Jekyll and Hyde.
When I left today, I was of the opinion that she was truly better without me being there. In a sense it is true, as she then potters off to find someone to chat to and is contented in a way that we could never achieve in her house. She is safe.
My future visits will be much shorter (was there 3 hours today) and preferably timed to when they do an activity we can join in with. Big sis agrees that 1 visit a day is plenty - a relief, as I thought she'd want at least a couple of visits per day with each one lasting a few hours.
I may ask my wonderful dh to visit her tomorrow instead of me, for 1 hour. And I shall take dd into the nearby town for a mooch. Being a bank holiday, I don't expect the ch shops to be open, but the w0rks and such like may well be open.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
So, dh did go and visit mum, then met up with us in town. I truly could not face a visit until today. And today was much calmer, and more positive all round than the other day.
It is a massive rollercoaster for mum. She sometimes hardly knows where she is and at other times is acutely aware of parts of her situation.
We came home today, and big sis returned. And my tooth fell out. Typical, just on a bank holiday w/end, eh? The previous time was 36 hours before we flew out to Canada for step dd's wedding. It knows how to pick its moments well. We have none of the stuff to stick it back in with, so I have a draughty mouth. Weird.
Dh pointed out to me - again - that we could pay the mortgage off at any time we chose to, if we wanted to. Hmmm. Maybe I should focus on some savings accounts instead, and be active about it, rather than just talk...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0
