Really glad that you are enjoying Headspace Apple. I have been thinking about it for about a year now, but that's as far as I get...just thinking.
I think perhaps, I will take another look having seen your post xxLBM July 2011 - Finally took control Nov 2011 DFD Sometime in the distant future !

Brilliant :T :T :Ta penny picker upper. MFW approx 78% to go | FIRE 3 years worth (30% savings rate: now aiming for 40%!) | Normality is a paved road; it's comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow on it | Whatever you're meant to do, do it now. The conditions are always impossible | The only thing you absolutely have to know, is the location of the library0

interesting you do not need a solicitor for a poa. We have a very old one for Mr Watty's dad. Done about 12 years ago and we have been told we need a new one and to see a solicitor???? (Dad is in a care home and due to return home shortly and the poa seems to be bothering a couple of folk because it is so old now)
Its on my list of things to look into.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -
Watty - is it an enduring one? As they behave very differently from a lasting one. 12 years ago should be an enduring one as I think the change came in 2007. The govt website is good and explains it clearly enough - we found it by using good ol' google. Here's a starter:

ps am defo NOT an expert, so we may need a solicitor, but will be asking a very canny friend about it all first.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -

My husband completed and registered a lasting POA for his mother without using a solicitor so it is possible.0 -

Today I had a good long walk, plus school runs, plus brownies runs. Total = 22k steps. Go me! Plenty of sunshine and wind, being out in nature.
I shall be going up to bham this week. I want to coincide with big sis and have time for the 2 of us to chat about different variables and possible scenarios. I therefore need to have some notes sbout my versions of the scenarios, so must face that tomorrow and just do it.
Tomorrow:
-sch runs
-sainz
-scenarios
-sew
-playdate
-train ticket

Thanks for that link - you motivated me to sit and read it. Really interesting as yes we have an enduring but as it was so long ago goodness knows what we did and how so will dig out paperwork and have a look. Mr Watty's dad agreed a long time ago for the 'in case' scenario and we've had to use it a lot over the last 8 or so years.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
