Hello Goldiegirl! Nice of you to drop by. Keep on with relaxing those shoulders. I try to keep good posture too - it's amazing how squiffed up my body can get when I think I'm standing straight already!
Another NSD in the bag.
And talking of bags, we're practically packed for the adventure to gma's tomorrow. About an hour ago she let me know that she's borrowed a booster seat for dd for the car, so I won't have to carry ours on the train.
Just need to ensure we wake up in time to give us enough time to collect the tickets from an obliging machine at the station.
In other news, today has not been a good eating day I was fine til lunch, then it went downhill. And I wasn't even hungry! I'll mot list what passed my lops, as it's probably longer than some of my massive 'to do' lists! Suffice to say, I'm not feeling comfortable!!
I did consider doing a workout - but am still very stiff so didn't consider it for too long. Prob won't get one done before Friday now as I don't plan to lug my kit on the train. Or lug sweaty, smelly kit back with me! Dd may well refuse to sit with me if I do that!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Ha! Ha! And triple ha! I've just reclaimed MY share of MY duvet from a dd who had wrapped herself around it all! When dh goes away, she takes it upon herself to sleep in my bed and keep me company. When I've mentioned that I might like to have the whole bed to myself, she just laughs at me in disbelief!
We're back to 'filia stertit' and I'd like to add in a 'valde' for it is indeed 'very much'!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Well, dd got the last laugh last night. She is one skilled duvet nicker! I was woken up sooo many times. So it's a bit of a slow start today. I decided to get up rather than wait for the alarm to go off, and have my coffee in peace with the laptop to entertain me.
Now that's done, I guess I should go and get my own back by waking her up and starting the adventure...
Now, I know this adventure is as nowt compared with NSK's, but it is MASSIVE for a 6 year old! And a reminder for me of what travelling around with her is like - we had great fun last summer together, visiting lots of people. Gotta make the most of our railcard - I bought a 3 year one as it was substantially cheaper, so must ensure I use it!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Adventure underway! Travelling went well. I did think we would not even leave the local station, as all the announcements were about delays and cancallations, as 2 trains had broken down and were blocking lines. But not on our route
. So off we set and it seems that a change of train came just as dd was getting bored.
An exciting afternoon for a 6 year old - Smythe Toys Superstore. I wanted to save this for tomorrow, but caved in! Dd got her toy. And then gma bought tea, including MINT vienetta. That's a blast from my childhood - the height of sophistication in those days!
We have all watched Frozen - gma for the first time with a running commentary from dd, telling her to 'watch this bit', 'this is the bit where', and totally spoiling the story for a first time viewer. Gmas are blessed with great tolerance and patience, no?
Tomorrow I want to tramp round the park and maybe go to a coffee shop. Just not spend too much money.... Need to do some research....
Dd is now struggling to get to sleep - she opted for the cushions on the floor, has already found the duvet too heavy, apparently keeps getting woken up - and has to tell me about it. And she's only been there 20 mins!
Head has been fine today. So have shoulders. Hoping for an early night and better rest than last night as it's a single bed and I shouldn't be fighting dd for duvet...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Haha, I miss the unveiling of the mint vientetta after a fancy dinner! Just the thought of all those chocolately layers.. mmmMMmm!
The wedding sounds glorious! The Canadian Rockies are what dreams are made of, what an amazing way to experience thema penny picker upper. Adventure day #2 drawing to a close. We went to the park and had a decent yomp round, but the lure of the charity shops was calling to dd.
She did well in the charity shops! 9 items for just over £9, including a tshirt and Hello Kitty leggings. I had to say no to the keyboard and the Night Garden massive toy - used the excuse of how on earth can I carry that back on the train!!
We went up to the 'wild woods' this morning to explore and look for fairy hideouts. We fair tired poor old grandma out, so left her at home while we went to the park this afternoon. Twas an intersting experience driving an automatic Y-reg car!
Haven't had a NSD since Mon, and won't get one tomorrow as we need milk and other stuff. We came away on the day I would usually do the food shop, so it is all eaten down and empty. (apart from the freezer which is still stuffed full of dd's bread that I overordered!) And talking of being stuffed... Gma bought a yummy gf sultana loaf which I have been carefully working my way through. And THAT vienetta did us for tea tonight too.(gma has some SANDWICH SPREAD in the cupboard - a throwback to my childhood!).
In short, too much food in general, but too much grains and sugar in particular. And in my book, any grains or sugar is too much! So tomorrow I leap back on the bandwagon with abandon and dedication...ish. Maybe I'll just leap onto trains and buses instead....
Knitting is sort of happening. The lavender bags are being knitted, tho not sewn up or stuffed yet. Maybe I could ask on freegle for dried lavender... Otherwise, will have to wait several months!
Am rather 'enjoying' the self-imposed challenge of living on £400 less this month. I have clawed back about half, I reckon, that I would have paid to savings/mortgage anyway, so it's not as big a challenge as it first seemed. I'm keeping close notes on money in and out!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -

Hello Applemuncher,
Very good luck on your challenge this month. You are keeping up with things really well. Just to let you know that we had a vienetta last week....Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0
