stash busting - I will use my mountains b4 buying more!

Been having a sort out here - 2 bags of assorted stuff went to the charity shop. Then Mr F took a bag of records out of the house. Now I have another big bag full ready in the hall.
I have a started bag of craft stuff that is leaving my stash - makes me a bit of space as well as money for Cancer Research.
I found a doll that I made a while ago - she is now sitting on top of my computer desk. I hope she will inspire me to start making dolls again. So sharing doll photos as nothing else made yet.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Hi all,
I nearly weakened today and bought some of the fat quarter packs online. I had over £40 of sale bits in my basket but I closed the window down quickly as I know I really dont need anything else at the moment
I havent got any tidying done again today and my craft room is looking messy again after me completing two more scrapbook pages. On the plus side it means I can add another 2 things towards my total.
Hoping to get more creative time tomorrow as hubby working a day shift so will be out of the house all day until after kids back from school - yipee crafting here I comeMortgage - £2338.07 paid off Feb 2023 BTL 1 £51,089.10 £35789.36 paid off July 2025 BTL 2 £81,504.52 BTL 3 £77,497.020 -
Today Mr F took another two bags to the charity shop. I sent some new unused craft bits to the charity shop. I am never going to use them so off they go.
I can honestly say - I have never regretted getting rid of anything when I have had a sort out so obviously - it was the right thing to do.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Well done Florenceem - wish I had your will power and was able to let things go!!!!
OK, now for all of you who asked to have photos of my craft room I have been brave and posted some on my blog. Be quick and take a look though as I'm not sure how long I'm going to keep them up for - it kind of makes me embarrassed at just how stuffed and untidy my room is - yet along to mention how much money is just sitting in those boxes and piles of bits!!! And the worse thing is - this is only pics of my craft room. I also have crafty stash in almost every room of the house (although obviously not as much) and a shed full in the garden
I know that I have only just tried to tidy my craft room and in my defence I have only just taken these photos and they followed on from a scrapbook page making session so it is a bit messier than when I started (although only a bit) - and on the plus side I can declare one more for my total
See bet none of you feel quite as bad anymore do you? Now do you all see why I started this challenge!!!

Your craft room photos look just like mine was when I was crafting upstairs. Now I have a larger downstairs craft room - the idea is - I can have a tidy craft area - watch this space!
Mr F is off out to the charity shop after lunch with yet more full bags. I am feeling good about letting stuff go.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Your craft room looks like it is used.... no point in having a pristine, tidy room that you're afraid to craft in!!! Mine used to be like that, only worse. It was a tiny room and I had so much stashed in there that you could only see a teeny bit of the desk where I used to work, and a patch of floor. didn't even have a computer in there. Now I don't have one: my stash has been whittled down, but it is still spread out in 4 different places! Have nearly talked hubby into letting me have the boxroom back as a craft room so everything can be kept together in one room, and if I make a mess I can just shut the door on it. I had to surrender it as a craft room in 2012 when we decided to put the house on the market and the room had to look like a bedroom. As the house isn't on the market at the moment, and I'm in dire need of a craft room again, I think this may happen in the next few days!
If you need to destash.... just pick one box at a time and go through it. Ask yourself how much you will realistically use in a year and keep just that. You can always go out and buy it again if you really do throw too much out. I think my light bulb moment came when I wished I had absolutely nothing in the way of craft stash, and could just go out and buy what I needed when I needed it, use it and then dispose of it.
But we all know it never happens like that, don't we???!!!
Going to disappear upstairs for half an hour and try and destash a bit... see you all laterKeep Calm and Carry On Kondoing

Craftingmad ... Your craftroom looks well used and you can tell it belongs to a crafter who loves what she does.
Maybe we should all post photographs of our craftrooms ... you'd soon feel better about yourself then!
I LOVE your blog. It's so friendly and welcoming. I'm going back there right now to carry on having a peep. ~ T.C.Remember: however thin you slice something, there are always two sides to everything.0 -

Ahhh thank you TheCre8tor - I'm so using the "well used" route next time hubby says it looks like a pigsty!!!
And thank you for your kind words about my blog. I am determined this time to keep it up
As for everyone else posting pics of their craft rooms / spaces - I love this idea. Nobody's can be as bad as mine and they might just inspire me (or give the boot up the b****m I need to get mine into shape).
So who's next?Mortgage - £2338.07 paid off Feb 2023 BTL 1 £51,089.10 £35789.36 paid off July 2025 BTL 2 £81,504.52 BTL 3 £77,497.020 -
Oh no - have I scared you all away? You dont have to show me your craft rooms if you don't want to - honest
Well I havent made anything today
On the plus side though I was tempted to buy some more bits but I have been very good and sat on my hands.
Decided that I better make the kids teachers presents as the end of the school year is almost upon us but am going to try and not spend any money to make the 8 gifts I need. Wish me luck - hopefully given the size of my stash it shouldn't be too hard!
Hope you're all busy crafting and that anyone else in norfolk isnt under water after our massive thunderstorm earlier. Why do they always seem to arrive at school pick up time?Mortgage - £2338.07 paid off Feb 2023 BTL 1 £51,089.10 £35789.36 paid off July 2025 BTL 2 £81,504.52 BTL 3 £77,497.020
