You need to meet different people. Who do they think they are telling you your interests are weird? Unless it's killing puppies or mugging grannies, your interests are as valid as anyone else's. Could you maybe find online forums that are related to it?

Messaged my brother and aunt both blocked me on facebook. My parents accused me of stealing money. I never did. I can prove I did not, they didn't care.

Hi Simon says. I don't know what your interests are but I can guarantee that there are others that share the same interests. You will have an opportunity over Christmas to find these likeminded people. They may not be local but that is the beauty of the internet.

By the way, anyone who drops a friend because they don't fit in with future plans doesn't deserve your friendship.

There you go! I'm sure if you google, you'll find plenty of forums about it and you can meet like-minded people. Nothing weird about liking model trains!

I'm on a fair few forums already. But I am not as intense in my interest as them as I don't have a layout (small flat) so on some I really don't fit in

i am similar to you though i have a few local friends, i don't like to feel like i intrude on their family christmas.

do it have - befriending where they match you up to an older person who is alone. or alternatively, why not look for local clubs for your interests - like a model train club.

Are there any clubs near you where you can enjoy your hobby. You don't have to like the same things as friends to get on. I love brass bands but none of my friends do but I just don't talk about it to them.

I don't see why you have to lie to your work colleagues, if you have a crap Christmas just tell them the truth.

Could you buy yourself a new model and make it in the day itself to indulge in your hobby if you really can't find anywhere to volunteer.

As for the clubs, the one I really want to join want you to have built a previous layout, because of where I live thats not possible.

There is another club but really not sure I would fit in
