Despite a low income, I was accepted for the 4% cashback Platinum Capital One credit card:j . Surprise surprise, when it arrived it was the bog standard Capital One Mastercard
- no mention of any cashback here! Rang them up and they said they were offering the 4% on this card!!! Call me a cynic, but I doubted their word and have asked for written confirmation of this. I refused to activate the card until I receive it. Meanwhile, my 3 months offer is ticking away! Watch this space!
Anyone else find this familiar? :money:0 -
Please see my thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=502224
This is good news for a number of reasons:
As the caskback is taken directly off your monthly balance therefore you dont have to wait a year for your cashback
As it offers enhanced cashback for certain things you can just use it for this, and still keep your other cards active
Let me know your opinions people!
And dont forget to click thanks if I have helped...please!!!!INCREASE INTEREST ON SAVINGS!
...I will thank you if youve been helpful, please do the same! :j0 -

I got my card (4% Cap1) on Monday... but still waiting for my pin. Been using the card sicne then though as most have been letting me just sign the receipts (and I buy most stuff on the 'tinternet).0 -
I got the Capital One card- it never occurred to me that it wasn't the 4% cashback that I applied for, but there's no mention of it in the paperwork0

Another provider did the same to me. I phoned, was assured that it was a CB card but I asked for that in writing. Got it in writing. Seems to be a common practice at the moments.0

My card does mention the 4% in the small print on the docs that came with it.0

Thanks Chucklevision-it is there but microscopic to my eyes:T0

Thanks for the above reassurances re the Capital One card - I am going to get one for use during September, October and November (i.e. incl. the Christmas present buying period).
It's good to hear both the platinum and standard cards pay the 4%.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Should the rewards received from cash back cards be declared on an income tax return in the same way that bank interest is?0

I don't believe that cashback is "income" (in the sense meant by the inland revenue).0
