I have just been rejected by Capital One for the first time ever, despite no debts and a good salary. I don't understand this...... Could they be rejecting everyone applying for this great offer in the hope selling them a less attractive card????
Has anyone been accepted by Captal One for the 4% cashback card?0 -
I was instantly approved on-line. Don't know the credit limit yet. I have a high income and no debts.0

I got the 7 days, let you know stuff!! Nationwide cash card what a joke don`t know the rate was told it was .25% but it seems lower than that:mad:please do not pick on me for my grammar,I left school at fifteen and worked in the building trade for 55years ,

I have to wait 7 days as well. Nationwide cashback credit card gives out low cashback, but benefits more by the fact that you can use it abroad and are not charged 2.75% admin fee like all other credit cards! I use my
Nationwide credit card always when I am abroad and my Morgan Stanley Platinum card in the UK.0 -
Just applied for the Capital One 4% card online and was approved straight away.0

I did not get an instant decision, but after a few weeks I have received my 4% cashback card approval.
If I get a 2nd card (one for my wife) will this effect the chances of getting this card again in four months time? (in my wife's name this time).
I want to make the most of it and try and get 4% cashback for 6 months using two cards.0 -
How long does it take to actually receive the card from when you get approval?
ThanksStopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
- 0% on purchases and balance transfers for the first 6 months
- Moving to a competitive
15.4% APR (typical/variable)
after 6 months - Up to 1% cashback on purchases
- No annual fee
- Balance transfer fee of 2% of transfer value applicable during promotional rate periods only (with a minimum of £5 and a maximum of £50).
So that's a 50 quid cap. Worth it for any BT of 2,500 or above....
The Yorkshire Bank card ain't MBNA either, it's through the Coop.... Now you know you ain't got one of their cards!0 -
Look out for any Barclaycard cashback offers......as this is the only card (I know of) that pays your cashback monthly, and also it comes directly off your monthly statement
if you do this and still want to take advantage of the 0% on purchases then follow this guide:
know your credit limit
calculate how much you will put on your card each month (obviously it will be as much as you can, as you would want to recieve maximum cashback, take note cashback is capped at £15.00 per month so do the maths)
then make purchases on the rest of the limit, leaving yourself a £100.00 'buffer' incase you overspend
still dont undestand? Follow this scenario;
Barclaycard Flexi Rate- Credit limit £4,000
monthly spend- £1,000
amount left over- £3,000
put £2,900 on your card as a purchase. Leave it on here. everything else you spend pay this off
at the same time put this £2,900 into a saving account. This way you will be getting interest on the money saved, plus you will still recieve maximum cashback each month!
The other thing to keep in mind is that there is up to a 56 day cycle on cards, so you will infact have more than one months spend on your card at any one time, so take this into account when leaving eneough money left over so you dont exceed your credit limit!
Let me know what you think!!INCREASE INTEREST ON SAVINGS!
...I will thank you if youve been helpful, please do the same! :j0 -
The Morgan Stanley Platinum card was mentioned a while back while they were tripling the cashback rates for the first three months.
But they seem to have had system failures which still continue. I strongly advise anyone who has had a MS Platinum card to check the calculations very carefully.
Last October I got one with triple cashback to 1 February. Their calculations were always wrong, mostly they failed to allow for the tripling.
When I complained they agreed my figures – £26 owing – and a month ago promised to send me a cheque for this sum “shortly”, but I’m still waiting.
My wife also got a card in February with triple cashback up to 1 July and she is having exactly the same problem. When she phoned to complain they said the problem was now sorted and correct figures would be on her July statement. She has received it and it's still wrong.
The problem seems to have been around for so long that you wonder whether it’s not being corrected at all!
The calculations are not difficult: add up all spending in the promotion period (Note: it’s the date of spending, not the date the MS statement is printed off). The first £2000 earns 3% = £60, the rest earns 1.5%. Spending after the promotion period only earns 0.5% so it’s time to ditch the card for a better one such as Capital One or Egg, but only after spending enough on MS to get the total cashback up to a multiple of £15 so it can be claimed without loss.
