I took out the Capital One 4% cashback card in early January and received it in mid-January.
Since then I have been spending like a banshee on it and racked up a £3500 balance, which should mean a cashback of £140 for my month 1 spending.
However, there is no mention of cashback or the 4% rate anywhere online, even on the online statement.
I did phone Capital One and they assured me that yes, I have the 4% cashback card for 3 months, and no, there is no limit on the amount of cashback I can accrue, but because I don't trust large faceless multinational companies I cannot help but feel suspicious.
I am waiting for my posted statement, hopefully cashback information will be on there, but in the meantime can any other Capital One 4% cashback customers tell me where they can track the cashback they are due?
Thanks!0 -
Hello Floop,
Cashback is NOT on the on-line statement (on the current system).
When you get your paper statement then it will be at the bottom right once your taken off the payment slip.
Don't worry.
I've ha over £300 from Cap one on the cashback so they do pay out (although you'll have to wait almost a year to get it).
It's still worth doing IMO.0 -
I managed to get the Capital One Cashaback card and made full use of the initial 4% offer. I've had the card for about 7 months now. One thing I should point out is that I get a call from them about once a week querying a particular "suspicious" transaction. This usually happens about 1 hour after I've used it....buying from a company I've never used before. If I don't take their call they put a block on my card and ANY future transactions are stopped  . This has made life difficult for me as each time I use the card I'm just praying that it doesn't get declined. This has happened many times and is annoying. Does anyone else get this problem?
My credit history is very good and I always pay on time and have never missed a credit card payment (Goldfish, Barclaycard, HSBC) in my life.0 -
I've not had that nor has my husband.
If using the card is hassle then why not switch to another one as the cashback is currently now only 1%.0 -
Thanks lisyloo. I wonder if anyone else has received similar problems.
I think this maybe due to me buying goods online. I've never experienced anything like that from Goldfish.
Capital One phoned today as I'd bought for my other half some cosmetics online for her birthday. I think they're ultra cautious to the point where they're going to drive me away from them.0 -
Capital One used to frequently ring me too. But I was unaware future transactions were at risk if I wasn't there to answer them, so never had an issue with this. I'll check this with them next time it happens (if it happens - no longer do transactions on this card now it's down to 1%).However hard up you are, never accept loans from your friends. Just gifts0

Indeed, I also had a call from Capital One when I bought some furniture online from John Lewis.
I did get my 4% cashback, but am not happy with the relatively short period from statement date to payment due date, compared with other providers, so I shall be moving on...0 -
but am not happy with the relatively short period from statement date to payment due date
I applied last July and got 56 days.
My husband applied more recently and got about 35 days but has a "world" something or other, so it has different benefits.
Capital one seem to change quite frequently.
All I can advise if to move on after the initial period but maybe keep cap one for the free Equifax service.0 -
I phoned Capital One today and queried why there are so many queries with regards to my transactions. The Call Centre person was of no help at all but managed to put me in touch with someone in the Fraud Centre. To cut a long story short they monitor all transactions and anything to them that appears suspicious (e.g. retailer they've had problems with before, retailer I've not used before, etc.) will create an alert on my account and they will phone me up. If I'm unable to take the call and then wish to use my card elsewhere, e.g local supermarket, the till will request that they find out some more details from me to satisfy Capital One that I'm the owner of the card. Of course, check out tills in supermarkets do not have telephones so all that they can do is reject my card. This is what's been happening. Very annoying! I can see that they're trying to protect themselves and me but it's now at the point that I have to take 2 credit cards with me when I shop just in case using the Capital One card is problematic.
