Remember the 4% is only meant ot be on the first £3000 of spend (i.e. £120 of bonus) after that it is meant to revert to the 1% cashback.

Are you talking about capital one or another card?
If cap one then I'd be grateful for a link.

All previous dicussions have concluded there is no limit.
    Has it changed?
or were you getting confused with another card?

My statement shows £320 cashback although I took it out last July so I guess it could of changed.

Apologies, i think you are right lisyloo, I went back to find the appropriate page and it does say '4% on all purchases in the first 3 months) .. there is however another box to the right that mentions "earn £120 in first 3 months" ... I read that as a maximum, but further down the page it does mention it as an example. Have corrected my post above ;)

Just off to phone the missus to tell her to keep spending for another week (until my 4% deal ends ;))

When does Capital One pay the cashback and is there a limit to the amount of cashback they will pay?
  • Hi everyone, does anyone think it would be a problem to have your mortgage taken out from a credit card, but of course paid off each month, to vastly increase your cash back expenditure? Is this actually possible?

    Chris.

It's meant to be January but some people got it in December.
Means if you sign up now you'll have to wait 12/13 months.

As fas as we can tell there is no limit to the cashback.
My cashback is shown as £320 which equates to a spend of £8K.

You would need to check with your lender as to whether they accept credit card payments (I would have thought they don't).
You would also have to make sure that it comes out as a purchase and not a cash advance as a cash advance will attract interest straight away.

Personally I don't think it will work.

    However you can:

    1) Put all personal spending on the card
    2) Put business expenses on the card
    3) Divert your partners spending onto the card (and perhaps their business spending)
    4) Maybe pay some bills a little in advance (no company will object to this) like annual insurances.
    5) Book your annual holiday (sometimes there are 2% fees for using a card but still worth getting the 4%).

That's how I've made so much out of it.

i'm not sure if its already been posted- maybe, but we find the Sky credit card FAB!!! you can get money knocked off your sky bill and it equates to much better cashback then anyother card. I realise this isnt exactly cashback but it is in a way I believe, although obviously only good if you already have sky- we also really like the way you can view your statement on your TV at any time.

Followed advice and applied for cash back card, very inefficient system with many errors (sent 2 cards and 2 pins with no idea which pin for which card - had to start again etc) finally got going november, got first bill 12th Dec to be paid by 22nd Dec!!! takes 5 days to process payment so....5 days to pay!!!
Also booked flights with card and have spent 5 days calling 0845 numbers trying to get my free travel insurance policy to no avail. Customer service non-existent. will do the 4% period then gladly cut up card.

I got 56 days interest free on my cardin July.
    My husband recently got 45.
Sounds like you got about 40 (max) so it seems like they are reducint the interest free period.

My experience with Capital One has so far been rather different. I only just got the card and haven't used it yet. But I called them to activate the card and set up a direct debit. They seemed fairly friendly and quite efficient at confirming all my details and so on. I have no idea if this has been set-up correctly though. I shall be monitoring everything very closely and won't be closing my Morgan Stanley card just yet... you never know!!
