Thanks for that, but the transfer still takes 3 working days minimum, so one has to plan ahead........

Yes, free transfers take a few days, so it's not as fast as switch.

Could you buy a diary?? :-)

With my on-line banking you can schedule payments up to 30 days in advance so you can just do your banking once per month.

If you don't want to be bothered with that then set up a direct debit BUT make sure you know when it starts so you make interim payments whilst they set it up (see post from jackpease).

If it really doesn't suit you and you really want to pay by switch then simply don't get a cap one card.

I don't know why they don't use it but I don't think it would be a huge showshopper for most people given the other payment methods available.
  • Has anyone been accepted by Captal One for the 4% cashback card?[/quote]

I think so, I applied online last week and got an instant decision, but I have not revieved anything through the post, I am guessing because of the postal strike
Mortgage £120K, monthly overpayment £600, 18 years and £100K saved

I'm in the mood for spending ... and spending

Got ours yesterday .. came in a fancy little box with a load of bumph and a credit card sized CD (not looked at it yet). Now all I need is a PIN ... twiddles thumbs in anticipation

You can still use it for online purchases. Suppose not much use given that your goods will be as late as the PIN itself!!

What was the load of bumph all about then?

Do I sound like the sort of person that reads bumph :D

I probably will, but it looked like an instruction booklet explaining what facitlities were availble with the card, how and when to pay etc. etc

Yes, you don't need a PIN to pay for goods on-line or by telephone.

If you are using a courier, getting your food delivered, paying for a holiday or insurance then it shouldn't matter that Royal Mail are on strike.

I am currently a Morgan Stanley Platinum Cardholder and have been since April 2004. I wasn't aware that they are charging an Annual Fee on the card now.

I knew that the Cashback system was changed when it became part of Goldfish Bank i.e. you could redeem the cashback when you wanted instead of receving it on the anniversary of opening your account. However, I wasn't aware that you had to do it in multiples of £15.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of the Terms and Conditions with the details of the cashback system and Annual fee in?

    Thanks

I had I look at my files and I was informed of the change to CB in multiples of £15 from 1 October 1996 in a letter from Summer 1996 (there was no date on the letter!). The first changed T&C's that I can find reflecting this change was from 23 April 2007. Neither communications mentioned the introduction of an annual fee, so I don't believe this applies to me.

I try not to encourage the wife to shop online or by phone ... I am trying to figure out if she would believe me if I told her that this new card does not work online :D

  • I have applied to Capital one for the cashback card and their agreement has arrived stating a credit charge of £123.63. I have phoned their customer relations team and they state that this only an example of what I am likely to pay. As I do not ever pay interest, as per your article I am surprised by this. It appears to me that I am agreeing to this charge if I sign the agreement! Is this the norm is is their something 'sinister' here?
