Been down the local Aldi today , paid for the shopping , was packing the stuff up and the wife said that it seemed expensive.
She checked the till receipt and discovered that we had been charged £18.99 for a pair of curtains which we did not have nor had we purchased.
Went back to the till and they were apologetic and gave us a refund , fair enough.

Then a more senior staff person came over and started rummaging through our shopping to see if we had any curtains !!
We obviously didn't , we asked how the curtains had appeared on our receipt , his answer was worrying to say the least ...

He said that it was to do with the codes on some fruit and veg .
    Strange stuff ......

Doesn't matter if the advice is incorrect or not theres still no evidence otherwise this person wouldn't keep posting on here about it

If you're going to give advice, it would help if you checked your facts before posting.

OP doesn't need to produce any evidence. All they need to do is contact the local EH department (not the HSE as you incorrectly stated) who will investigate. It's for them to collect any evidence and decide what action to take.
    Just broke, even.

Aldi are a NO FRILLS DISCOUNT supermarket, so NO FRILLS means NO CASHBACK, NO CARD POINTS, NO SOLD VOUCHERS,NO LOYALTY SCHEMES

Our local Aldi doesn't give out carrier bags either. You either bring your own, or you struggle.

A third option is to actually buy a bag from Aldi.

Thank you for pointing this.out to us.

About September 20th we had a Credit Card refused I complained about the embarrassment caused and about the cost of telephoning Aldi if you are a Virgin media land line telephone customer.

They did not follow up the complaint at all.

A few weeks ago I revisited the complaint it was on my "to do list".

I was going down the road of a subject access request (cost to me £10 to get a legible copy of CCTV from 2 Aldi stores and other data etc ) when a customer focused Area Manager involved herself and offered me a £30 gift voucher.

So The people had their shopping searched for the curtains ?

That sounds very humiliating to me , the action itself and then the curtains not being found ?

    WOW

so what you are saying no one should of checked their bag/shopping in case they did have curtains that they had refunded. so if they did have curtains they should have been allowed to shop lift them.

In fact the checkout operator should have double checked before refunding, this also would have pinpointed which item scanned wrong, so it could be corrected.

For your information on about September 20th we had a Credit Card refused I complained about the embarrassment caused and about the cost of telephoning Aldi if you are a Virgin media land line telephone customer. They did not follow up the complaint at all.

Had you actually left the building and then returned ?
Had another transaction been initiated on the till you had been served at ?
Did you give permission for your bags to be searched ?

Are you aware that for £10 you can initiate a Subject Access Request from Aldi.and they must supply you will a legible copy of any data they have of you including CCTV receipts letters any data they have of you.

I visited the Bulwell Nottigham Aldi store a few days ago and they had a 3 bells alarm which was explained to me a potential robbery or shoplifting situation.
This is to warn staff to react accordingly.

Where 3 bells sounded as a previous poster asked ?
