Thanks EH - the positive work stuff outweighs the negative but I am currently unsure of when (or if) I'll get paid this month, so February is going to be super frugal in this house too. (it will land eventually, but not currently sure when)

The joys of self employment, its totally unavoidable and understandable but them's the breaks. And, whilst not being flippant, its only money not ill health like some other poor folks suffer, so I'm mindful of that so into the cupboards I will forage deeply using my good meal planning skills.

I do have a scheduled payment from the learning factory on the 15th of the month, must check if that's enough to cover the DD's scheduled.

And, next month's rent is in the bank savings so I'm hoping whatever happens all the outgoings can be covered with a cunning plan if needed.

(Wik journey so far so good......)

Hey lovley thanks for the nudge and yup Im on the sofa :D about to indulge in a bit of nigella express :D feeling marginally guilty but I'm sure I'll get over it!

I'll get paid, the 'if' is 'if' its in Feb or not - there's the rub.

Off to toddle to the virtual bank and spreadsheets and use my toes to do some sums.

I hope your weather is better than ours

Trog - I meant to say be careful on the logs (I know you will) but can't have you slipping........... lovely to see you more regularly too :)

Stores reveal a lack of fish, potatoes, cheese and not much meat.

We've enough to get through til the end of the month though I'm sure.

    Lamb curry
    Goose
    Pork mince
    Ham hock
    Beef slices
    Lentil soup
    Eggs

And a few tins of peas etc and a raffle of bread.

After the end of the month we'll have to think up a budget.

Whilst EH made hers on the nose - the treats budget got a bit of a rammy this weekend (but we don't do it very often :o) and we didn't go too crazy.

The general housekeeping grub budget came in about £10 over the £100 I'd hoped. Taking cash out clearly works as done a few extra goodies from work after our event :D I only kept what couldn't be frozen well.

    Honest injun

    Off to those banks then.......

You like your Nigella, don't you :) I do too, mind, I have her summer book - I bet you've got a dripping with diamonds domestic goddess inside you, Pippi :rotfl: I love that acceptance of "I do this because its a shortcut, and it looks and tastes great anyway" sort of thing she does :)

That "if" about February, not about being paid at all - gotcha, I did sense it after I'd posted, but thought I'd leave it just in case :o

    Virtual banking ... yep :p

  • KC you make me giggle Dripping in diamonds - well how about rainbow sparkles instead. And I do like her dollop it all in and give it a go type of fabulousness

So I've done my magic with banks and spreadsheets.

Despite the lack of payments this month the 'actual debt' has gone down in the right direction - not by much only by about £50, but its paid to be prudent this month it would seem.

The Rents still lolling in the account, just need to add up the 'expected' wages from the other job on 15th and see how much more I need to add to it to make sure we're OK and to check with financial guru when we get a break from council tax payments. If its feb/mar that will reduce the dd's this month.

Petrol expenses (whilst not in yet) have also more than covered petrol this month. So that's a good result.

So aside the rent I need approximately £350 for my DD's (minus the council tax which aren't due these two months)

I've 20.5 hours coming in wages this month for sure and the rest unknown so I have to plan - so I've really got a shortfall but I can't work out how much as I've three different rates at the knowledge factory and I need to check which one is :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

All is not lost dear hearts but we do need to investigate the wages slips for knowledge.

    not blessed with brains me.

Food budget I'm setting again at £100/month - includes pet/toiletries and household gubbins.

See if we can get nearer than 10% over this month.

No travel this month has helped hugely.

Although I'm *hoping to be travelling next month - coughs, if, coughs my superhero personal statement delivers as it has promised.

Off to find out rates. And, not panic so much. It will be tight but we can pay the necessaries if needed by the looks of it.

    Must find out that shortfall.

    ;)

ETA found my rate :) silly sausage that I am I thought I was getting £3 less an hour. So that's a nice surprise I had no idea :)

Like I said not blessed with brains.

Now off to find out what to do with those goose breasts........there's two which will be enough for a good couple meals I'm sure.

Tea tonight - curry, rice and some aubergene pakora :) good old reduced purple godesses.

And Greying's right never one reduced when you want one, then three come along at once like buses.

ETA (again) I found 80p upstairs - so that's less than a hundred to find now before the 15th of the month!

    Tonights mouthwatering extraviganza

Lamb curry with basmati rice for the guys (not a fan of lamb curry) for the chaps using left over lamb meat and frozen pre cooked rice :D

Lentil soup recycled into aubergine and lentil dahl type thing with a left over flat bread. Aubergine pakora (ate as they arrived out the pan, too darn tasty)

Those in my life who do not like the purple yummy things you ARE missing out. :)

I've never grown any outwith work, should remedy that..........

You may even see a 'teashotalagreying' tonight - you never know :D

Not the pakora obviously -- me phone cannae xray!

And, I do think it would have gone well with bannocks - but lets be serious they got scoffed a wee few days hence. Too darn tasty.

I made my first flat bread ever :-)

Thanks to you all (and GP) especially for the tea inspiration! I love that we all get inspired and learn from each other.
