It's all for "the greater good!"0

I am usually a rational person but if this happened to me then I would take the following steps (the list is not exhaustive):
- I would put Christmas lights on the bins and move them right to the front
- I would buy a white vest and spill gravy all over it. I would then wear it every time I went to put rubbish in the bin
- I would buy the rustiest 1980's Ford Transit I could find and park it in my drive
- I would buy a rap cd. I would leave and arrive at my house with my car windows down and rap music playing very loud
- I would add a huuuuuuuuuge satellite dish to the front of the house (wouldn't bother wiring it)
Goodness me, you're such a wag. If you did any of this to me I would tell your mum and that would mean you missing the next episode of Power Rangers.
I think the OP ought to keep in mind that the elderly may seem a push over but they survived a war and a crisis to them isn't whether their ipod or 4g is broken. A crisis isn't a few wheelie bins either; it's about respect and decency.
It's a much better option to get these people onside if you plan to live amongst them; though this is not evident to you now, it will be sooner or later.Mornië utulië0 -

I asked my mummy and daddy and they said it would be fine for me to continue watching power rangers even if the wierdo from next door told on me.
They would be more concerned why you would be pathetic enough to monitor my bins. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Each to their own, but it beats me why anybody would want a bin outside the front of their house if there is an alternative place to put it.
I live in a village and bins are spirited away out of sight as soon as the bin men have done their job. If you aren't in, your neighbours put your bin away for you.0 -

This is exactly what happens in my village. We moved in 24 years ago and we felt like 'outsiders' for many years. Still don't feel truly local as many have lived in this village or the surrounding villages for 60+ years.0 -
Nothing wrong with that. It's not snobbery - chavs bring down house prices. Again, you might well be a perfectly respectable family, but the it's the image of white vans that can ruin impressions of the whole area, and if you are trying to sell your house it's obvious that you want the whole area looking as nice as possible. Wouldn't you?
How rude, because my husband drives a van (beaucause he is a landscape gardener, a career path that he chose due to the outdoor nature of the very rewarding work, not because he's a chav) you class us as chavs. I would be pleased that the neighbours are hard working people and not so narrow minded to think that the type of vehicle someone drives or where they choose to place their bin dictates their class and means I can tell them where they should park or how they should live their life.0 -
I would completely ignore the neighbour. They sound like someone having a whinge for the sake of it.
Yes, older people might feel like they need some sort of power over the young'uns who just moved in. That does not meant they should automatically be given it.urs sinserly,

It's just delusions of grandeur.
For some, apparently no vans and no aerials is a badge of honour. Sad really what pathetic people think about sitting around but there you go.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I am worried about upsetting the landlady/he rthinking we are causing a nuisance so I have put them away, but, if/when we buy it, I will be putting them right where I want and the water feature with built in lights and music for the front garden will be on order0

I think some people got a little excited!
I must stress they were at the side of the house just near the front, they weren't literally on the front wall. now they are gone you can see my gas and eleectricty meter cupboards, ia ctually think these look worse!
also apart from mon-fri 7-6 they were completely out of site because one of our cars blocked them!
estate agent says she doesn't want to get involved so can I just move them! she is absolutely gorgeous, but absolutely useless too!0
