What else will such a garden be? And if the IRA get one the INLA will have to get one too as will the UDA, UFF, UVF, UFF, LVF, OV, RIRA, CIRA - where do we stop?
No memorials to terrorists please.
I do see your point on that and to be very honest I hadn't considered that implication.
Just a thought though: perhaps in exchange for a single memorial each both republicans and nationalists would agree to stop painting bliddy murials.0 -
I actually spoke to a teacher at an integrated primary school who is teaching her class today about Remembrance Day and the significance of poppies - maturity at last.
Thats pretty disgusting to be honest. Can't children make it the whole way through primary school, before recruitment into the British Army is planted in their wee heads.0 -
a single memorial, wow! i bow before your magnanimous gesture. Tell me again, what hoops to we have to jump through before your government grants this? What if I was to give up Catholicism, would I get some soup?I do see your point on that and to be very honest I hadn't considered that implication.

There's no satisfying you Emmett is there? No gesture of reconciliation or suggestion of how to progress things makes you happy.
I think you're just an irredeemable republican and the only thing which will shut you up is a united Ireland so you can totally turn the tables on us horrible British.
It ain't going to happen pal so I'd suggest you start to re-evaluate how you plan to live the rest of your life under this terrible oppression.0 -
its your conscending attitude Glyn, that you think that you hold all the cards and anything is given towards the nationalists is done so out of the "goodness" of your heart rather than on the basis of any mutual recognition of the two nationalities on this part of the island. There's no satisfying you Emmett is there? Yes, I am a Republican, something which does not need redeemed. though I can see that acceptance in your version of the six counties is based on the likes of me giving up my identity and accepting what crumbs you offer me.0 -

I'm a democrat Emmett so yes, I do hold all the cards. Your way has failed. PIRA lost the war, there's no united Ireland and there's not going to be for a long, long time, if ever. No Eire Nua.
Where I see you going wrong though is in not accepting the discussion points made with goodwill and peace in mind. You want the unionists to lie down so you can tickle their stomach. It's not going to happen.
I've had the decency to put forward conciliatory points so that I could hear your views on them. All I get back is more complaining and a twisted version of various points in Irish history which bears about as much relation to the truth as my @rse. A tirade of bitterness which would sicken Our Lord Himself. Nothing's good enough for you except total surrender by the unionists.
Time to wake up and smell the coffee is what I say to you. Northern Ireland is British and it will stay British. The best any of us can hope for is federalisation. Which I've already declared support for.
I've also declared support for integrated housing, integrated schools, a possible war memorial for republicans and God knows what else over the last couple of months trying to hold rational discussion with you. Everything I've said has been from the hear, yet you still ramble on, and on, and on.
You could start a fight in an empty house mate.0
