We too have a dehumidifier and it runs almost constantly during the winter. It has cut our heating costs and made our house far warmer than it was before. The damp isn't entirely under control and I think I may need to get another for upstairs but it is working it's magic for now. It is in our single skin utility and downstairs loo.

Dancemum, the dentists will have had to assess your dad to see if he had any evidence of gum disease. If he did, then it is easier to manage by removing the teeth from what I understand. This is imperative prior to cardiac surgery because of the risk of bugs getting direct to the heart which can cause all sorts of problems. Bacterial infections in the heart take months of high dose antibiotic treatment and are life threatening. He will have a much better prognosis now and can be fitted for dentures when the swelling has reduced and his mouth has healed.
Sorry to hear your sis is not doing so well and that your Mum too is struggling, it sounds like you are having to be the strong one.

Carpet man has been and it's going to be almost £900 for the carpets for stairs and landing and bedroom and the fitting thereof. This includes the thickest underlay available and all the grippers. He also said that we will have enough carpet to do the hallway if we choose to.
They are being fitted on the 28th November. Exactly 8.5 years since we moved in.

Been to see Adam Hills at Buxton - he's utterly lovely and we laughed a lot and I enjoye dthe venue even if we were in 'tyhe gods' - fear of falling put to one side as we were front row and centre in the Upper Circle! I'm fine shen seated - but moving to/from seat was - well amusing.

I am applying for the post I am cureently doing this week - vibes would be much appreciated though it will mean I am absent from the thread...

*suddenly overwhelmed by vibes as this means a Valli-free flylady thread*

and, just to be clear I am joking as I presume (hope) I would really be missed;)

Oh dancemum do let off steam here - especially if everyone is leaning on you X its lonely being in charge X

Of course you will be missed Valli, you already are!

    And happy birthday moomin!

Just a quiet one today for us. Hoping to catch my brother on Skype, and will wait to hear from dad. I offered to go on Fri with DD but he didn't seem at all keen :( god forbid we change the routine of Sunday visits  thought he might need some help being home alone and arm in a sling. Plus no DS to jump on him.
Pah. Shame on me for trying to be sensible...
