A simple and probably unnecessary moan about family.

The ida that someone invites themselves to your house without clearing it with YOU first and then one year you announce you are not at home they kick off even though nothing was pre arranged even with their own mother (otherwise they would have known already) is absolutely alien concept to me and quite frankly I might have called mental hospital if some patients havent run off as only a mentally confused person would ever have thought that this is in any way, shape or form all right.
And the idea that 6 weeks of notice to people who didn't even yet said they want to come is not enough... well, words completely fail me!!!
All the best to you Tropez, enjoy!! And great congratulations are in order! Hope your and your fiances life is filled with happiness.
 I know, they're bloody barmy aren't they?
See now I've had a few hours to contemplate the whole situation I actually find it rather funny. Bunch of numpties. I'm curious to see if they actually learn a lesson from this or not. Regardless, I do have a sneaking suspicion I may be busy next year.
At least when my fiancee springs surprise guests on me they're actually pleasant and in fact encouraged her to propose to me!
And thank you for your kind wishes. There's a lot of love around here tonight 0 0

Glad to hear your wedding is going ahead as I remember talking to you on another thread about it before, it will be great.getting married in the US is so easy.
Your 'family' sound like twarts and I certainly wouldn't be inviting them next year after their abusive emails! Some people aren't worth the bother!0

so you may finally have got all these !!!!!!!!!!s off your back! Rejoice!
new family tradition coming up .................family members travel up at an appointed date and time, to bestow those expensive gifts on mum! sadly there is no free lunch or overnight accommodation as your newly married status precludes this. (you could lie and say the house is full of your wifes relatives).
 I have just discovered a new 'banned' word on MSE! its F R E E L O A D E R! now what the hell is offensive about that!0

Just ignore them if they cared for you and mum they wouldnt be finding out about the wedding dates now. Just go and live your moment, dont give a second thought to that people. Mummy is happy in going for the wedding thats what counts!!!0

Well, all I can say is that I am amazed you have put up with this treatment for so long, and this gives you the perfect reason and opportunity to put a stop to it once and or all.
You should make sure your mum knows that they won't be welcome at yours again so they can't wangle their way through her again. As you say, they could make other arrangements if they wanted to.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Have a lovely wedding
Tell your mum in advance that once you are married you will be wanting to spend your anniversaries alone, so the relatives will have to find somewhere else to stay when they come to visit her.
She'll know in plenty of time then that she must say no when they ask her if they can stop at your place
If your mum actually wanted to, she could arrange to see them all sometime in early December. It doesn't have to be on christmas day itself. They could invite her to stay with them before she leaves for your wedding!
And I agree that 6 weeks is loads of notice.52% tight0

You will have a fab wedding in the US, I've visited San Diego a few times and live in Las Vegas. Just be sure to make sure you bring warm clothes (you mentioned beaches) as its cold in San Diego at that time of the year, also in Vegas.0

I hear you on the 'adopted' front - I've had a mild version of that all my life, and I've put my foot down and told them I won't be seeing any of them over Christmas. Your lot sound hideous - please tell me they don't have access to any keys to your place?"Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000
