I think we all deserve a holiday after a tough few years financially.
We need to escape for a week, somewhere hot and sunny would be lovely!

I do better if I don't go to the supermarket in person - my sweet tooth totally gets the better of me while I am there. It's better to order online, that way you can actually stick to a list pretty easily.
Good idea Cathy. I keep on thinking about trying Sainsburys, but I know that Aldi is much cheaper, so want to stick with Aldi. But having an online delivery is so much easier, especially because I don't have a driveway outside my house. Cornwall :D:D:D:D:D:D:D
Hahaha :rotfl: Cornwall has certainly has a good run of hot and dry weather recently, but is back to wet weather at the moment. Still warm though!
Have been into the travel agents this morning, given them a list of what I want for a holiday, and am now awaiting an email from them to see what they can offer me.
Online is probably cheaper, but I will give them a chance first
I had a surprise £30 deposit into my bank today from my 'always-late-paying client', she actually paid me on time!
I am going to use that money for our meal out tomorrow evening to celebrate my sons 10th Birthday.
I cant believe my baby will be 10 years old tomorrow!0 -

I am not too bad buying sweet things at the supermarket but can be lured by expensive meats and seafood lol.
But as I am home in the USA at the moment, sweet things are on my list. Like fresh baked Choc chip cookies and key lime pie. I bought some alaska crab legs on special (think Deadliest Catch on tv). They will do me abt 4 meals I think. And they were on special offer lol.0 -
I didn't realise you were form the US atush. Do you think Americans have a different view on saving/spending than us Brits?0
-
:hello:
Deeply envious of the crab atush. Can't beat good fresh seafood. It'd be rude not to take advantage whilst you are there.
I like your holiday plan WTBSE. We did flights and a family villa direct booked months ahead in the summer holidays a few years ago and it was cheaper than a package, even against a last minute booking. I know because I checked the day before we wentThe villa worked well as we could use supermarkets and BBQ daily so it felt like a treat/break for me but was much cheaper than eating out.
October half term may be better - we did canary islands very last minute some years ago with stepsons and it was hot and cheap(ish).'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
I'm deeply envious of the crab too, and the cookies, and the key lime pie! I've never had a proper key lime pie, would love to try it
Re the supermarket, I love expensive meats and seafood too! Sweet or savoury, it's all good

Hiya, I have been reading yours and CathyBird's diary for a little bit now and though I'm not usually a huge poster on other people's diaries, I just wanted to pop up and 'Hi, I'm reading, about to subscribe and I might randomly contribute sometimes
I did post the same message on CathyBird's dairy too I was being super lazy and did a copy and paste jobbie on here- it's not de ja vu if you think you've read some text on her diary later

Good Evening my lovely Readers
Shortie- great to see youFeel free to randomly comment whenever you feel like it!
We have just arrived home from a lovely meal out to celebrate my sons 10th birthday. Had a lovely steak, chips and peas. Cooked exactly how I like it. Perfection!
£45 for all 3 of us to have a meal, pudding and drinks each. I don't think that's too bad.
Agency 'payday' tomorrow and I have already written the next weeks budget, can you see how brightly my halo is shining?!
The kids are off to their Dads house tomorrow until Sunday, and I have my meditation day on Saturday. I am really looking forward to that as it was a brilliant day last time. I can hardly believe its been 6 weeks since the last time, the weeks are flying by so fast!
So, I will do the food shopping on Sunday morning, before the kids come home. No point in me doing it before then, I am happy to eat what is in the kitchen already and not buy anything else (apart from tea bags!).
How is everyone else doing? I haven't seen Jojo around for a few days.0 -
*shuffles in hanging head in shame*
Hi everyone, I'm sheepishly returning after abandoning you for a while! Life has been chaotic to say the least! Back to work after a week off, too much spending (and dipping into savings...boo!) and a lot of errand running.
It's a bad day when I've been too busy to come in here and too tired when I've been quiet.
Husband hasn't been well, just a bug I think, but it means I've been doing more or less everything all week. It's surprising how it takes it out of you!
Anyway, I'm back in action and hoping to get my butt on gear and back to savings.
I'm really gutted that after hitting £2k our savings have dwindled so much, but I'm reassured by the fact that it was all necessary spending and not just random splurges on nothing.
I get paid tomorrow so I'll need to work out how much we can afford to transfer. It's husbands birthday in two weeks so I'll need to think about what to buy him, just a few small bits probably.
I really need to get my act together with meal planning. Because the last couple of weeks have been so hectic, we've been succumbing to takeaways or just nipping out for dinner. Unacceptable!!
I got my £5 off at Aldi voucher today so I'll be doing a big shop on Sunday and that'll do us apart from fresh stuff for the next couple of weeks.
My little man fell and burst his lip qt the start of the week (not sure if I mentioned that) so the wee soul has been struggling with that.
Sorry this is all so disjointed- must try to make more sense!!
Hope you're all well.CC1: £4481.14/ £5031.14 (12% paid off, £600) | CC2:£3307/ £3807 (14.4% paid off, £550) | Loan: £10,528.20/ £15,792.30((33% paid off, £5,264))
