Doing housework must be rubbish for you because if you're used to cleaning as a job, you get paid to do it! You have to do it for free in your own house!!

Glad you're only spending £30- a nice way to squirrel away your extra cash :)

My friend had a baby on my birthday so I'm going to pop out today to pick up a couple of little bits for him. I've got some vouchers for Next so might use some of them for baby bits to save me spending money. We'll see. Can't wait for a cuddle once they've settled in.

I've got a little bit of shopping to do this morning then off to my grandma's to see how she's doing after her fall last week. My cousin will be there too who I haven't seen for quite a while so will be good to catch up.

Wow, I don't log on for a week and look what happens! I hope everyone is well and congrats on the pay rises, birthdays and trips away!

Managed to get this week's food bill down to around 13 Euro by using up freezer supplies and food from the dry cupboard (Noodles, rice etc) in preparation for coming back to the UK on Thursday to see the family again. I'll almost certainly overspend however buying all the bits and pieces I miss to bring back (Branston pickle, Yorkshire teabags etc) as well as the BBQ planned on Saturday but I figure it’s a treat so I'll just have to be good the week after.

Inspired by all the banking posts I am also in the midst of sorting my finances to make the most of saving rates. It's harder than it used to be, all these direct debits etc needed but I figure it’s a bit of work now and then I'll be able to enjoy the benefits later.

JoJoC I hope Grandma is ok and that you get all your bits done today and Wanttobese I hope your housework got done without too much stress!

Well....I haven't got as far as I would like with the housework, but I HAVE done the food shopping :)

Have also started writing the budget. This Thursday I should be able to transfer £390 into savings. Not as much as I would have liked, but I have to get the boys some new school uniform and at my sons school, tops are £17 each!
It's also the week where the majority of my DDs and SOs come out of the bank too, plus I have to buy my younger son his B'day pressie.

Very expensive week or 2 ahead!

Hantsman- I hope your budgeting goes well, let us know when you have done yours, it may inspire me to get a move on with mine :D

WantToBeSE, I'm always so impressed by your diligence in writing plans - food plans, budgets etc - I'm not half so organised. I wish I was. :)

Thanks Cathy :) I don't feel organised unless I write lists for everything, especially when on a budget too.

I keep forgetting that paypal now has the 'pay after delivery' thing, where you don't pay for what you have bought until 14 days after you ordered it. So I don't have to transfer the money across until 28th April for my sons laptop. I bought it yesterday for him and it should be here on Wednesday.

Back to work this morning...groan...still, I like the money in the bank so that's what I need to concentrate on.

    Have a good day everyone!

It's an expensive time of year for a few of us by the looks of things.

I love lists in theory, but I start off well and either lose them or forget to refer to them. D'oh! Must try harder.

It's another sunny day here :) we had visitors this morning and now the little fella is down for a nap so after that we're going out for a walk.

    Have a nice day everyone!

Ahhh, I am seriously losing motivation today! I just want to spend, spend, spend at the moment! New clothes mainly.

Have been to work and am chilling out on the sofa. The weather is BEAUTIFUL so think I am going to take the kids to the beach on Friday (if its still nice by then).

Also- I cannot stop eating chocolate (its that TOTM)....its not helping my attempt to lose weight :(

    *sigh*

How is everyone else doing today?

I have bought a couple of yummy-looking Easter eggs for Easter, on the theme of chocolate. I will struggle not to eat them in the next couple of days though - already scoffed three small ones. I'm a bit unmotivated too, WantToBeSE - it's the good weather, I'm convinced. Must get back into that taking lunch to work thing (cough) - I've been doing that quite a few days but not keeping proper track. :)

In also demotivated WTBSE- it must be something in the air right now. Another £150 will be taken out of the savings this week for husvand's exhaust too :(

I'm doing some baking today which should be fun, although I have no idea whether my little man will love being involved or get bored. There's only one way to find out!

We've got a trip to the zoo planned at the weekend and then a trip to visit my aunt about an hour away on Sunday so a busy weekend ahead.

JoJoC, it's actually really nice to get kids involved with baking, and other sorts of cooking too - I remember doing some stuff as a kid and it has always stayed with me. So hope your little man enjoys it :)
