I haven't tried any recipes from Jack Monroe but want to look into it - there should be quite a few on the Guardian website? Do say how you get on with the cookbook, WantToBeSE - I'd love to hear. :)

Wow- that mindfulness day sounds amazing!! It actually sounds right up my street too! I might look into booking myself and mum into it to see how we get on. One to look into.

Thanks so much for posting all that- it really helps to know what actually happens in these courses.

    That cool book sounds good.

My friend was telling me about Jamie Oliver's book- save with Jamie. She said it's fab and has loads of good cheap but tasty meals, ideas for leftovers, ideas for getting them best from your diet/ meal plan etc.

I was telling my mum about it earlier today so thought I'd tell you too.

Husband has banned me from buying any more cookbooks! It's my crutch!!

I don't know who Jack Monroe is, nor do I read the guardian.

Oh dear, will I be chucked out? If I serve lentils and chickpeas for dinner will I could be chucked out of my marriage. He's english and doesn't eat that lol.

I have been known to serve a North african stew that has Lamb and lentils (stretches the meat out) but if i serve no meat? I had to get special dispensation (ie I gave lashings of guilt) to serve Thai butternut squash soup last week.

This week it is an Omlette with wild garlic. I am determined to not serve meat every day lol.

I really struggle with the 'no meat' dinners too Atush. My husband is Scottish and dinner is all about the meat. Sigh.

I like it but could take it or leave it.

I think the only meal we have without meat is macaroni cheese.

Had to get quite a bit of shopping today but still managed to only spend £47 in Aldi and that was including nappies and wipes :)

atush, Jack Monroe is the woman who writes a blog about poverty, politics and much more. She fed herself and her son on £10 a week when she was on benefits and really struggling. Her blog is agirlcalledjack.com Its worth a read. Her recipes are really good :)

Ok., I saw her on TV showing you never take your eyes off the bottom shelf lol. I bought the Saver brands, and bring them home. My family says, why are we buying this stuff- we aren't poor? I say we aren't poor because we dont spend every penny we make.

Now they are students and buying their own food they buy cheap stuff lol.

I make a MEAN mac and cheese with parmesan and pancetta. He even turns his nose up at that lol.

I'm interested in the book a girl called jack too. She seems to talk a lot of sense from what I've heard about her. :)
We tend to have fish or meat in most meals-sometimes we just have beans or cheese on toast-when neither of us can be bothered to cook. :o

I am going to make a vegan chilli at the weekend. It uses loads of beans and lentils and tastes lovely. That's not from Jacks book, its from a blog I read.

Jacks book was only £7 at Tesco, and I have already tried 3 recipes and they have all been lovely.

As an Englishman, I feel I should be offended. :p Not all of us insist on meat every day.

    Good Evening all :)

just realised that I get my Tax Credits this week, on Friday. I also get my petrol allowance from the agency! So my savings will be £700 up on Friday, which will make it £1122 :)
