Sounds like you've got a good plan in mind WTBSE! Also, all the time it takes you to find the house you really want just means more months of savings so it might be a blessing if it takes you a few months to find your ideal place.
I bet you can't wait to move now though!
I knew it would be a big boost to see your savings up over £1000 again. You'll be overtaking me before you know it!
Husband just came home from work and said that his car exhaust needs something done to it costing £150it'll need done in the next six weeks
We only bought the car for £300 from his uncle as I have the main car and he needed a runaround. Husband mentioned just getting rid of it on a scrappage scheme and getting a basic little car like a ka or picanto, but that'll mean monthly payments and even if it is only £100 or so, I'd rather just pay the £150 exhaust cost and take our chances!CC1: £4481.14/ £5031.14 (12% paid off, £600) | CC2:£3307/ £3807 (14.4% paid off, £550) | Loan: £10,528.20/ £15,792.30((33% paid off, £5,264))
July debt total: £24,630.44 | New debt total: £18,316.34 | Total debt paid: £6,414.10 (26%)

I am so glad it's Friday
I have a beer in hand and am planning on relaxing all weekend!
I went to see the agency boss after work today and had a nice offer. Basically she asked me/I offered (a bit of both) to take on some extra work in the form of admin. I'll be paying her employees, training new staff etc.
It'll make me another £100 a month, so probably only £50 after taxBut its something else to put on a CV when it comes to looking for another job in the longer term.
I need to update my signature with my new total0 -

It looks as though we cross posted, Jo
That £1000 mark really makes a difference doesn't it!
What's up with the exhaust? I think its best to just carry on with your current car too. When it gets the point that its costing you more in repairs than a new one would, then you could rethink.

Hi all. Sorry not been around. Mr tc took me away for a couple of days break.

Glad you agree with the car thing- I started doubting myself a bit, but I think husband is just a bit fed up with the old banger and fancies a new one. He's realistic though- we don't have monthly payments for that car so it would be silly to start now unless we really, really have to. I'm not sure what's wrong with it, but it's been rattling for a while and a mechanic grind has looked at it and quoted £150. Husbands uncle works for a well known car garage and said they'd charge £80 for parts then £50 per hour and likely up to 3 hours so we'll definitely go with the friend.
That's fab about your extra role at work! You never know what these things will lead to, and you're right, extra money and extra experience is great.
Well done!
I'm VERY jealous of the beer you have in your hand!
I've got a chicken, bacon, leek and mushroom pie in the oven for dinner so I think when my son goes to bed, I might crack open something niceit is Friday after all!
Husband is working all weekend againit's good for money but we miss him
xx

He took me to London for a couple of days. Nice to have a change of scenery and some time together without the kids!
It was fab!GE 36 *MFD may 2043

Have updated my signature
Yet again I have to face the supermarket on a weekend. I could have gone food shopping today or yesterday, but I just couldn't be bothered.
So it'll have to be done tomorrow.
I don't think I will need much this week as I picked up some nice reduced meat (Lamb) from Tesco and I already have quite a bit of chicken and pork in the freezer. I also have quite a bit of tinned goods. So it'll be fruit, veg, packed lunch stuff and drinks etc mainly. Aldi is always heaving on a weekend...still, its my own faultSomeone remind me of this next week
Tatty- I have been to London once. It was only a flying visit (5 hours) and would love to take the kids for a whole weekend. My Mum lives in Kent so we could stay with her and catch the train in for the day/2 days. I am very scared of the tube though, so that puts me off a bit!0 -
That does sound great Tatty!
I was thinking of taking husband to London for his birthday in May for an overnight. He actually really dislikes London because of the business and impersonality of it (he's much more if a small town boy). He really wants to go to the natural history museum and loves that sort of thing so if like to take him down to spend the day there, have some dinner then maybe stay over or maybe just get the last flight back up.
