I think it's a good idea to have an aim if you're not getting your fix of saving for a while. Is the NSD challenge on the DFW board? I'm sure the concept is simple but if people are talking about it somewhere that always helps.
You're right to not rein things in too much if you don't have to. We've been in a position before of being so skint that we've had to buy the cheapest of the cheap for everything and it's not a nice existence. Thankfully it didn't last too long and we pulled ourselves out of it.
Food is a big thing for us and we like to eat well so we spend a bit more on some foods. Aldi is my favourite! I live right next door to a big one so we're spoiled in that sense. It's so handy and cheap!!
Glad you're in a good mood todaytoday's sunshine has put me in a great mood!
I've got a really busy day at work tomorrow and I'm coordinating a meeting with my bosses and a high profile visitor (an MP) so super stressed about that tonight. I think I need a glass of wine and bed!
This time tomorrow, it'll be doneCC1: £4481.14/ £5031.14 (12% paid off, £600) | CC2:£3307/ £3807 (14.4% paid off, £550) | Loan: £10,528.20/ £15,792.30((33% paid off, £5,264))
July debt total: £24,630.44 | New debt total: £18,316.34 | Total debt paid: £6,414.10 (26%)

Yes, we've had really lean times in the past too-not nice.
I'm sure everything will be fine tomorrow Jo.
The thought is often worse than the deed.

Good morning Diary
Its Thursday, so almost the weekend!
Jo- yes the NSD challenge is on the DFW board. I failed yesterday alreadyGreat start! Oh well, plenty of other days to go! Good luck at work today! What do you do?
Tatty- I wish I had 'shed loads' of cash in the bankOh that would be lovely! But yes, I totally agree, we have to find the balance between spending and saving.

I reckon if I had she'd loads of cash in the bank, I'd just spend it! I think I'm probably better off being comfortable financially and having to be careful with money rather than having loads. I know for sure I'd convince myself I need stuff that I actually don't!
I work for a renewable energy consultancy and do their PR, communications and digital media stuff. I love my job, it's just stressful at times! Thankfully today went ok, although I have a lot of follow up stuff to get through before I finish in 3 hours!
I had a look at the DFW challenge he board last night after you mentioned NSDs. It looks great- I now need to have a proper look through the current challenges and see if there's anything else I can get involved in!
Don't worry that you failed yesterday. Today is a new day!CC1: £4481.14/ £5031.14 (12% paid off, £600) | CC2:£3307/ £3807 (14.4% paid off, £550) | Loan: £10,528.20/ £15,792.30((33% paid off, £5,264))

I keep looking at some of the other challenges but don't want to end up involved in so many things that I don't know where I am
Today is a new day and I have to confess I've been very lazy so far and not achieved much of anything.
It's just a good jb that tomorrow's a new day too! :rotfl:GE 36 *MFD may 2043

Evening All
Its been a very long day today, and I have only just got home. Shattered!
Jo- I am glad that everything went well for you at work today.
I find the DFW board to be a bit 'hardcore', the same as the 'Old Style' board. However, they are both incredibly useful to those who need them. I do love the OS board, but really don't comment much on anything other than this diary and Cathys too.
Tattycath- Nawt wrong with a lazy day! I love themEnjoy!
I am considering taking a week off work soon, but think I will wait and see how the finances go for the next few months.
Going to crack open a beer and chill out watching Futurama!0 -
I'm in the grocery challenge this month and about 4 or 5 other challenges.
make£10aday is a good one too.:)

I've thought about the make £10 a day challenge but am just not sure at the end of the day that I've got the mental energy for it ... would be interested to hear though how you have found it, tattycath? ...0

Some months I have actually managed to achieve target. Most months I don't meet my target-but I achieve much more than I would if I didn't take part in the challenge.
So for me it's win win-if I achieve target I win, if I don't but I still make some money I still win!:DGE 36 *MFD may 2043

I can see it would have that effect, ie all good.
I'm not sure I'd have the mental energy to do it is the only thing but I'll give it some more thought.
